Hai,
Few things.

did you also change the start GID in the AD?

That's what I thought, and why I told there is no enumeration for system
users.
wbinfo can get a whole list of all Samba users (I believe it can do that
with AD or NT4 or standalone). But wbinfo does not show system users, it
shows Samba users which can become system users once they are transformed
(with pam tools as winbind, sssd or nslcd).
I insist because after months spent here and years

The "troubleshoot Note" in Samba Wiki (
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_Samba_as_an_AD_Domain_Member#Using_domain_accounts.2Fgroups_in_OS_commands)
must be performed only when setup Samba as an AD Member, not when setup as
an AD/DC ??

Hello, I may have a problem with winbind setup.
-with wbinfo -g and wbinfo -u I get all group/user from AD/DC.
-with getent group "Domain Users" and getent passwd "remote_user" I can see
the info about the specific group and specific user.
-with getent group and getent passwd I only see my local group/users.
-I believe that using "getent group" and "getent

Samba and "running old wbinfo, pam_winbind or libnss_winbind clients"
I've just installed the Samba 3.0.7 on my FreeBSD box.
I am trying to authenticate it to the Active Directory (for my Squid
server).
When I go to a webpage using the squid server, I get this error from
Samba's Winbind:

smbd changeling and strange firewall logs
I found in my firewall logs something that looked somewhat like a port
scan originating from my AD DC. So I started to check the machine and
already found something strange using ps aux:

Samba 3.0.28a under Solaris 8 + libnss_winbind.so problem?
Hi i compiled Samba 3.0.28a under Solaris 8 (sparc). Everything seems to be
fine except the libnss_winbind.so.
i copied it to /usr/lib and linked it to:
libnss_winbind.so.1
libnss_winbind.so.2
nss_winbind.so.1
nss_winbind.so.1
now when i use: id user nothing happens. group user is the same
wbinfo -t / -g / -u all work fine. So it must be something with the nss I
guess?

Problem with libnss_winbind.so.2
Good afternoon people. Wiki'm following procedure:
RHEL based OSIf you have compiled Samba yourself on a RHEL based OS, to have your domain users and groups available locally on your Domain Member, you need to place two links in your /lib64 folder:# ln -s /usr/local/samba/lib/libnss_winbind.so /lib64# ln -s /lib64/libnss_winbind.so /lib64/libnss_winbind.so.2# ldconfig
But does not charge.

Winbind problem related with old libnss_winbind.so and pam_winbind.so version.
Hello,
In my log.winbind I'm getting several messages like this one:
[2003/12/30 18:19:00, 0] nsswitch/winbindd.c:process_loop(725)
process_loop: Invalid request size from pid 12913: 1304 bytes sent, should
be 1568
This usually means that you are running old wbinfo, pam_winbind or
libnss_winbind clients
I suppose that the problem may be cause by old version of pam_winbind and

Multiple processes of smbd spawning...don't know why
I'm running the latest version of ubuntu with Samba "smbd 3.0.24" and for
some reason I the server is spawning multiple like 50-100 instances of smbd.
I try stopping samba, but the processes keep running. This is a very small
network with only a few clients.like 4...so I'm not sure what the issue is.
I've been using samba for years and have never seen it spawn processes like

Samba spawning excessive smbd processes.
Hi,
We're running Samba (3.0.28-1.el5_2.1) on a Redhat (5.2) server using
winbind to authenticate against a Windows AD.
This all worked fine for a while. But now we have the problem that
(some) users coming from Linux clients cause an excessive amount of smbd
processes. We had 1 user who had more than 1700 smbd processes all
coming from the same client. While on the client side there

samba4 - where is libnss_winbind.so?
I compiled Samba4 with these instructions:
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO
I would like to use Winbind according to this description (so that I can
use getent passwd to enumerate users):
http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/Winbind
Unfortunately, I don't find libnss_winbind.so anywhere.
In fact, I don't find any \*winbind\*so file anywhere in compiled Samba4

cannot find libnss_winbind.so
hello all!
I recently downloaded the tar ball for Sol 8 and have been spending time
configuring Samba. In reading the documentation about Name Service Switch,
it mentions to put libnss_winbind.so in /lib, then add winbind to
/etc/nsswitch.conf. I must have misses something because I searched the unix
server and cannot locate this file.
Can anyone help?
thx,
