How do I hide source when I distribute rails?
Hello!
If I need to distribute rails projects to our customers,
and I want to hide source codes,
how can I accomplish it?
My manager is worried about our competitors stealing our codes.
I know this is kinda weird situation
because normally you build a web site and sell the service.
But we plan to sell the application itself.
Thanks.

connecting printers via samba / cups (Windows XP clients / AD)
Hi,
We have a setup like this:
- W2003 AD PDC
- Redhat Advanced Server 3.0 with Samba 3.0.0 / CUPS as a print
server
- Windows XP Professional clients
Problem: Users can't connect printers, even administrators are
out of luck, getting a "You are not allowed to connect printer"
like messages. But there is one account that is allowed to
connect printers, and after this account has

Setting user permissions (acl) with standalone server & Win XP

I am trying to provide our users a way to change file/folder permissions
on public share on samba (3.0.28a) ROLE_STANDALONE server. ACL's are
working fine but the problem is to get list of users and groups on samba
server via Windows XP Professional (SP3).
When I open 'Select users or groups' dialog and pressing 'Find now'

Problems with SAMBA as PDC and Windows XP SP2 as client
Hi!!
We are trying to configure a Debian Linux Server as Samba Server (Domain
Controller) and a Windows XP (with Service Pack 2) as client. We have
configured Windows into the Samba Domain (in other words, we have been
able to agregate the machine into the domain), but when we restart
Windows and try to login with a samba user (from linux server)
(selecting the Domain), we received a message

Hide dot files not working
Hi
We are running samba under digital unix.
The hide dot files option doesn't appear to work
I have a hunch this is because the initial directory listing is
perhaps done as superuser. Under digital unix ls is the same as ls
-a.
Anyone come across this before or have any solutions?
We are running version 1_9_18p7
TIA

Hi Rowland,

What do you think about that config for the share FTPFiles ?
Does it has some directives you would remove ?

Re: hide shares from some users
I can think of a couple of ways to accomplish this. You could create
unix groups that contain users that can see some shares, then remove the
read/write/execute bit (or specifically the -x bit) for world/others on
the directorys that you want hidden from others. these same directories
need to have group ownership assigned to the group that is able to see
them, and r/w/x bits set at the

hide dot files?
Hi all. I have 'hide dot files = yes' in my [homes] section, but it
doesn't seem to work correctly. What could I be doing wrong? I'm using
2.0.0beta5, but I recall it not working with 1.9.x either...
I currently have the following in my [homes] section:
[homes]
comment = Home Directories
browseable = no
writable = yes
path = %H

Allowing file permissions changes with mac os x clients.
Hi All,
at work all our clients are macs (10.10 yosemite). We are trying to move
from the classical afp file server to a samba based file server. After a
lot of testing, things now works more or less: a mac server acts as
Kerberos+OpenLDAP and a linux debian 7 box is doing the file server with
samba 4.2.0.
A client which has "joined" (which is bound in mac jargon) the

STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE?
I have a user who gets some random disconnects (well not exactly, it is
more like her box goes insane randomly...explained better below). I was
able to run a wireshark dump on her box and when the trigger action is
performed I get a STATUS_INVALID_HANDLE.
She is in MS Access an runs a report to trigger it (then she gets about
a thousand "disk or network error" dialog boxes). The

Erratic behavior with smbmount
I'm running Linux Fedora Core 2 with Samba 3.0.3-5
installed. I'm experiencing some strange behavior
when I try to mount a FAT32 share on a Win2k
workstation.
After a fresh reboot, when I try smbmount (or
mount.smb) everything seems to work (no error
messages). Then when I try to access the mountpoint -
via Nautilus or by doing "ls" in a terminal - the
system freezes. If I
