DNS_INFO_NO_RECORDS when trying to join domain
Hi. I've a Samba 3.4.7 running on Ubuntu 10.04 configured as PDC. It has always worked but lately these months strange things started to happen: clients cannot join the domain anymore. I had to reinstall a computer but when I tried to add it back to the domain I get this error message in Windows XP: DNS_INFO_NO_RECORDS. It seems windows cannot get server name via dns? The samba server runs

What are they trying to do here?
Hi! I?m new to the list, and I?m not really having a ?problem?, but I?m seeing something in my log files that I wonder if I should be concerned. I?ve been using Dovecot (dovecot-0.99.14-8.fc4) on my Fedora Core 4 (kernel 2.6.17-1.2142_FC4) machine from quite some time. For the last few days, I?ve been seeing this in my daily ?Logwatch? e-mail: dovecot: Authentication Failures:

idmap weirdness - wildcard values being used instead of rfc2307 AD values
I've done a lot of research on this and haven't been able to solve the problem. Hopefully someone here has a better understanding of this than I do. The problem is that the UIDs and GIDs are not being fetched from AD. For example "getent passwd doug" returns: doug:*:70003:70005:Doug Meredith:/home/DSTRC/doug:/bin/false My full name has correctly been pulled from AD but the

virsh blockcommit hangs at 100%
hi, i am trying to blockcommit a external qcow2 snapshot back into its raw backing file like: sudo virsh blockcommit myDomainName vda --wait --verbose the output just shows: Block Commit: [100 %] and stays like that (i waited about an hour or so...). No "Commit complete" message. - explicitly passing --base and/or --top arguments makes no difference. - did not find a related log

working dhcpd.conf with routes
Hello listmates, I am running DHCPD for IPv4 on a Centos 5 machine. I am wondering if anyone has got a functional dhcpd.conf configuration serving static routes to Linux, Mac OS X and Windows clients. I tried a couple of variations of static-routes options - but have yet to create something that would work. Thanks. Boris.

linux client join DC how?
I did a fresh install of Debian with the desktop. I know from Ubuntu that the network is handled differently in the desktop and the server versions. So, I am assuming it is a similar situation with Debian. I could be wrong but . . . When kerberos installs via the script it (the script) suggests accepting the 'defaults on the next three screens.' The first screen included the correct
