Did anybody test smbclient4 against smbd4 using SMB2
Dear everybody, I want to give a shout "Did anybody test smbclient4 against smbd4 using SMB2". I failed to do so. I always got the error NT_STATUS_REVISION_MISMATCH. I don't believe that my configuration is wrong. I am checking the source code, but I really want somebody to tell me if they have done it and succeeded. Thanks Jun

Samba findsmb and smbtree inconsistent
I have a samba server 3.0.28a set up on ubuntu 8.04, which is accessed by a windows xp client. The windows machine can see and download all the shared folders from the linux machine, and the linux machine can download from the windows machine with smbclient. However, when I issue "findsmb" the linux machine only reports itself, not the windows machine. The man pages show it

Newer SMBTREE versions don't find all systems.
Hi, Trying the latest version again tonight 4.6.7 it has the same problem I've seen with the prior newer versions as well. The one I went back to was 4.4.15 which works. What is happening right now is there is a Win2K3 box that is the domain server, with thecompanydomain.com (NetBIOS domain name: COMPANY). That has the __MSBROWSE__ on it. I have a Linux Wheezy system on that is part of

Slimming down smbtree?
Sorry if these questions are getting tiring, but I want to get the list of servers from "smbtree -NS" from an embedded system (e.g., custom wireless router firmware). Unfortunately, compiling smbtree ends up being a couple of MB large. I've tried a bunch of basic optimizations to shrink the executable size as possible (e.g., using -f{function,data}-sections and --gc-sections,

has 'smbtree -N' been emasculated lately?
I know smbtree -N used to do what I wanted, because I created an alias to it in ~/.bashrc called netview (based upon 'net view' in OS/2) many moons ago, when findsmb quit working. Now when I try it in *buntu 16.04 or any recent openSUSE or Knoppix (e.g. with samba 4.2.4 in OS 13.1 or 42.1), I always get a null return. nmblookup just produces a usage message, and its man page

Odd file locking issue with one of our SMB servers....
Samba version: 3.6.15 on openSUSE 12.2. We?ve got a series of file shares exported from one of our storage systems. Periodically, we?ve a user from our accounting department that is getting errors from Excel that the file she?s trying to open is opened by someone else (it isn?t) and prompts her to either open it as read-only, or to cancel the open operation. When this occurs, she hits cancel,

I'm currently developping a program that takes the smbtree output, parse it, retrieve all connected workstations, then call nmblookup for each workstation, resolve the IP, create a BIND zone file with this. Can't see shares, and also smbmount works but mount -t cifs doesn't
Hi (this is most likely a newbie question). A couple of problems. I have a linux guest (puppy) running on vmplayer on a friend's machine, which runs WinXP home. I have folder sharing enabled on the host for a few different folders. I am trying to mount the winxp host shared folders onto the linux guest. First problem is that I can't seem to see the shares. smbtree only lists the
