xfs quota weirdness
Hi all,
I have a quota problem with xfs (xfsprogs 3.1.7+b1 on debian GNU/Linux 7
-- wheezy) and samba-4.1.19.
If I set a user quota to say 10GB, windows explorer reports a 20GB quota
of which none used.
If I change quota to x, windows explorer reports 2x space of which none
used.
So I assume samba is somehow getting (albeit incomplete and incorrect)
xfs quota info from operating system.

ext4 or XFS
Hi all,
I've a 30TB hardware based RAID array.
Wondering what you all thought of using ext4 over XFS.
I've been a big XFS fan for years as I'm an Irix transplant but would
like your opinions.
This 30TB drive will be an NFS exported asset for my users housing
home dirs and other frequently accessed files.

[PATCH 1/2] ext4/xfs: add page refcount helper
There are several places where ZONE_DEVICE struct pages assume a reference
count == 1 means the page is idle and free. Instead of open coding this,
add a helper function to hide this detail.

Convert EXT3/EXT4 to XFS
Hi Folks,
Can you guide me about how to convert the CentOS file system from EXT3/EXT4
to XFS without loosing data? I have tried search in google about this but I
couldn't get the relevant idea.

Best inode_ratio for maildir++ on ext4
Hi,
This might be a silly question: which would be
the best inode ratio for a 5 Tb filesystem dedicated to Maildir++
storage? I use ubuntu server, which has a preconfigured setting for
mkfs.ext4 called "news" with inode_ratio = 4096, and after formating the
fs with that setting and then with the defautl setting I see this
difference of space (wasted space, but more inodes):

xfs fsck error metadata corruption
Hi,
Everytime I restart Centos 7 I receive a error saying?
metadata is corrupt
and then I need to go through the process of mount and unmount the disk uuid then run
xfs_repair {some uuid}
or
xfs_repair -L {some uuid} which ultimately corrupts even more.
I?m running on a RAID 1 two identical drives
this has happened more then once and had to reinstall. Any way I can prevent this when I

XFS quotas not working at all (seemingly)
Hi All,
I have a very strange problem that I'm unable to pinpoint at the moment. For some reason I am simply unable to get xfs_quotas to report correctly on a freshly installed, fully patched CentOS 6 box. I have specified all the same options as on another machine which *is* reporting quota

Mount options for NFS
We're experiencing problems with some legacy software when it comes to NFS
access. Even though files are visible in a terminal and can be accessed with
standard shell tools and vi, this software typically complains that the files
are empty or not syntactically correct.
The NFS filesystems in question are 8TB+ XFS filesystems mounted with

can XFS filesystem recover rm'ed files?
Yes, I rm'ed the wrong directory. The disk has not been written to since,
now mounted ro. Is it possible to recover the files without doing forensics
on the whole partition? I know the UID and path. XFS is supposed to be
pretty amazing, can I get it to do this?
Thanks,
Dave

ZFS, XFS, and EXT4 compared
I have a lot of people whispering "zfs" in my virtual ear these days,
and at the same time I have an irrational attachment to xfs based
entirely on its lack of the 32000 subdirectory limit. I''m not afraid of
ext4''s newness, since really a lot of that stuff has been in Lustre for
years. So a-benchmarking I went. Results at the bottom:

EXT4/LVM recommendations for 3TB of mdbox ?
Hello,
Do you have recommendations on EXT4 and LVM options for a 3TB
file-system for mdbox?
We currently use the mbox format on a XFS with poor performances since
the update in v2.1 (Debian).
We will switch to EXT4 to have the possibility of shrinking the
file-system if needed (which is not possible with XFS), we currently
have LVM partitions but with mdbox we will use LVM snapshots to

ext4 in CentOS 5.6?
I'm sure many are running ext4 FS's in production, but just want to be
re-assured that there are not currently any major issues before
starting a new project that looks like it will be using ext4.
I've previously been using xfs but the software for this project
requires ext3/ext4.
I'm always very cautious before jumping onto a new FS, (new in the
sense it is officially supported

mail spool filesystem
Hi!
I?m about to migrate a system whith 5000 accounts whith (~ 500GB) from
"postfix/courier-imap/maildrop/mysql" to a new hardware whith
"postfix/dovecot/dovecot/mysql".
I?ll make a separate partition (raid 1) for the mail spool
(/var/spool/vmail) and want to now what type of filesystem to use on it
to increase performance. I read that XFS is a good choice, but is not
