Conntrackd and shorewall
Hi, I´m trying use conntrackd, shorewall and keepalived. Conntrackd (now know as conntrack-tools) is working ok, keepalived too, but i don´t know how to put some iptables rules in shorewall. eth0 is the local area (192.168.0.0/24) eth1 is the net area (192.168.1.0/24) [1] iptables -P FORWARD DROP [2] iptables -A FORWARD -i eth0 -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED - j ACCEPT [3] iptables -A

Routing changes break NAT (not a shorewall question)
Hi folks, I know this isn''t a shorewall question, but i''m hoping someone can point me to the right place to look for answers on this (since, as Tom suggests, search engines are useless for some things): Here is my firewall setup: ADSL1 ADSL2 dialup \ | / firewall | DMZ It''s a fairly simple setup. ADSL1 has a static IP, ADSL2 is

Problem with multiple ADSL lines
Hi all, I have managed to setup a Fedora 7 box with 3 ethernet cards and two ADSL modem/routers from different suppliers as LARTC recommends. I am able to direct traffic for specific internal IPs either to one or the other ADSL line. However, I am faced with two problems I am struggling for the solution: 1. I have opened a few ports on the ADSL router/firewalls to talk to internal hosts; say when

Load Balancing with secondary tables (not main as in the howto)
Hello, We have 3 DSL connections connected to eth3 and another interface with a dedicated link in eth0 (main table) We want to balance selected traffic (using fwmark and iptables) through our 3 DSL connections in a secondary table named DSL (without using the dedicated link in eth0), but the next command is not accepted, and gives us the following error: # ip route add default

[Bridge] challenge of year: connect to LAN using wireless-ap over bridge + unmanaged l2tpv3 tunnel + bridge? it's possible?

BGP + shorewall on multiISP env.
Hi list, My network was assigned a private AS and my ISP(4) urged me to use BGP ! My Other 3 providers on my Shorewall BOX are typical aDSL lines while the 4th is an 1G optical uplink with 64 addresses. Currently I am in a balance, track mode in shorewall ISP setup.. After I installed - configured and started zebra + bgp my static routing tables got filled with about 850 static routes to

ip rule, fwmark, mangle and src IP
I made a script to test if in a moultiple gateway setup all default connection are up, regardless of the fact that that gateway is the default gw. Suppose adsl1 and adsl2 are present, and all traffic goes by default to adsl1, and you want to test if adsl2 is ok. 1. I use mangles from iptables to mark icmp packets to some test machines 2. I set up a routing table for each adsl 3. I use

MultiISP.html documentation improvements
Hi all I have been working with Shorewall connected to two ISPs lately, and I would like to suggest a couple of improvements to the MultiISP.html documentation page. I followed the examples in that page (but the legacy setup and the USE_DEFAULT_RT one), but I had problems with locally (by the firewall) generated packets: I wanted them to go out using only one ISP, but if I use a tcrules rule to

Applications running on the Firewall (MultiISP)
Hello, it seems I am hit by http://shorewall.net/MultiISP.html#Local : "Experience has shown that in some cases, problems occur with applications running on the firewall itself. This is especially true when you have specified routefilter on your external interfaces in /etc/shorewall/interfaces (see above). When this happens, it is suggested that you have the application use specific local IP

Traffic Routing/Shaping Problem
Hi, I''m trying to use Shorewall (3.0.6) to accomplish what I thought was going to be fairly simple. Unfortunately, I can''t get the dmz to work correctly, and I''m getting martians logged against the interface at issue. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated! A picture of my physical setup is attached. I have also attached a shorewall dump. To make a long

MultiISP: failover and dynamic IP
Dear list, Shorewall is running here with 2 ISP''s: ISP1: corporate ADSL-line with fixed set of IP''s ISP2: fast consumer-grade cable-connection with higher bandwidth All our main traffic (web, e-mail) is routed trough ISP1. Only for special purposes (frequent large ftp-transfers) ISP2 is used, configured trough tcrules. ISP2 is not so reliable as ISP1 (duh) and they sometimes

Multiple gateways setup and timeout connections
Hi, I''ve setup a gateway using multiple default gateways and netfilter MASQUERADE to load balance traffic between two DSL interfaces and one dedicated link, and when I try to download something big, or when I''m using MSN (both in clients under this gateway), sometimes, or most times, after a while the connection timeouts. The connection doesn''t seem to change its
