Aligning axis values when plotting more than one graph on same axes
Dear R Users, I am trying to plot a barchart with a line graph superimposed (using par(new=TRUE)). There are 12 bars and 12 corresponding points for the line graph. This is fine, except that I'm encountering two problems: 1) The position of the points (of the line graph) are not centred on the middle (horizontally) of each corresponding bar. In fact, whilst the first point is located on the

Plotting Time Series Data by Month
Hi, I have a dataset which includes monthly data for 17 years. I want to be able to see the monthly data behavior for the period of all 17 years. What my data looks like: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/file/n4162534/data.jpg I would like to represent the data in a graph such as the one below: http://r.789695.n4.nabble.com/file/n4162534/Untitled-2.jpg Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Help xyplot
Hi Mackay and anybody (a) Is it possible to select randomly (let say five grids) and plot? (b) Is it possible to plot five nearest grid in one figure? The original question and improved codes: #I am ploting gridded time series data. I would like the actual lat #and lon value appear on the graph-if possible inside the graph as #numbers. need help with axis ticks
hi, i am using par(mrow=c(6,6)) function to get 6x6 plots on one screen. the problem that i am having is that the axis tick labels are far away from the ticks and going into previous plots (see attached figure). i need to know how can i reduce the distance between the ticks and their values (y axis values).the part of the code that i am using (after reading in the data) to create the top row is:

changing the x axis labels in a time series plot
OK, this has to be simple but I've searched through help files, mailing list archives and well, everything I could think of, and still no luck. I simply want to change the x axis labels in a time series graph, from its default numbering (which starts at 1 and increments by 1), to values I have in another vector, "Year". It has to be a time series graph, I don't want to have to

latex, eps graphics and transparent colors
I have a diagram to be included in latex, where all my figures are .eps graphics (so pdflatex is not an option) and I want to achieve something like the following: three concentric filled circles varying in lightness or saturation. It is easiest to do this using transparency, but in my test using the postscript driver, the transparent color fills do not appear. Is it correct that postscript()

Timeseries Data Plotted as Monthly Boxplots
Hello, I'm trying to develop a box plot of time series data to look at the range in the data values over the entire period of record. My data initially starts out as a list of hourly data, and then I've been using this code to make this data into the final ts array. # Read in the station list stn.list <- read.csv("/home/kbennett/fews/stnlist3", as.is=T, header=F) # Read in

Adding Year-Month-Day to X axis
I do not see any difference between the x versus y plot drawn in blue, and the y only plot drawn in red. Is the correct? Changing x-axis when dealing with time
Hi, I am plotting data in which the x values are a timestamp. I am trying to change the x-ticks so they will be in specified hours of the day, but it always start from hour 4 of the day. And I need it to start from the beginning of the axis (at x=0) and then each tick be on the interval I specify. Here is my plotting script: *##-- ROOF COMPARISON - SOUTH-- win.graph()

Barplot with Secondary axis

3D Plot with Date Axis?
Hello, I would like to format the X axis of the plot created via the scatterplot3d function or any other function which will work. Here is an example of what I am trying to do: library("scatterplot3d") mydf=data.frame(rate=c(1,1,4,4), age=c(2,2,5,5), market_date=c('2017-01-01', '2017-02-02', '2017-03-03', '2017-04-04')) scatterplot3d(mydf$market_date,

Logarithmic axis
Hi there, I guess this must be a standard issue, but I'm starting to go crazy with it. I simply want a plot with the x axis being logarithmic, having labels 1, 10, 100..., and ten unlabelled ticks between each of them - just as they introduce logarithmic axis at school. I've played around a bit with log="x", xlog=T (where exactly is the difference here?), xaxp, and xaxt

legend
I think I'm missing something tonight in the usage of 'legend': plot(0, type="n") legend(locator(1), month.abb[1:5], pch=15, col=1:5) gives me something similar to what I want. But legend(locator(1), month.abb[1:5], fill=T, col=1:5) gives me 5 black boxes. What am I doing wrong? Thank you, > version _ platform i686-pc-linux-gnu arch i686 os
