How to obtain the series of residuals from fracdiff
Hi I'm using fracdiff package to estimate the parameters of a fractionally-differenced ARIMA (p,d,q) model, and it works fine, but I wanted to have also the filtered series and the series of residuals. I understand these are calculated in the subroutine fdfilt, in the program fdcore.f, but I can't manage to get them out. Any suggestion would be much appreciated Thanks Susana Barbosa

It''s as if the spec_helper cannot find "spec/rails". I''ve noticed that

Error from StructTS
Hi, I used function StructTS some time ago to fit a structural model to a time series. Now with R 1.6.2-1 I repeated the analysis with the same series and I get the following error: Error in KalmanLike2(y, Z, -1) : invalid argument type I tried with other series and I get the same error; I checked the examples in the documentation and they work fine. I suspect I am missing something

Fw: It 's correct to do contrasts for a GLM?
Hi all I am one recent user of R and have a few doubts I did a binomial GLM with 3 - factor and now I have to test contrasts to identify that treatments are different. I know that the contrasts are used in ANOVA, it is not incorrect to use them in GLM? there is a way to do contrasts between treatments for GLM as a Tukey for the ANOVA? Susana

getent returns HEX number instead of username
Not for all users but for some. I'm using samba 3.0.20 running on Fedora Core 3. Security = ADS, winbind works and getent passwd returns local unix accounts plus the domain accounts as expected. It also returns a lot of entries like: 6811ff15281f4d19bdc:x:18004:10000:Anel Susana Esquivel:/export/private/6811ff15281f4d19bdc:"/sbin/nologin" I suspect these are accounts in a

Excel vs. R

confused about range of 'd' in fracdiff package
Dear all, I want to assess the question whether several time series of parties' respective popularities are fractionally integrated. The "fracdiff" package seems to be an obvious choice. What confuses me is that the 'd' parameter estimated by fracfiff seems to be bound to a range from 0 to 0.5. From what I have read I would assume it should be allowed to vary between 0 and

Bug report for fracdiff
I was sniffing in the fracdiff library (this is for fractionally integrated ARMA processes; Haslett and Raftery 1989). The documentation suggests that one tries the following simple example: library(fracdiff) ts.test <- fracdiff.sim( 5000, ar = .2, ma = -.4, d = .3) fracdiff( ts.test$series, nar = length(ts.test$ar), nma = length(ts.test$ma)) When I run this, I get the following error: R

Customly low standard deviation in fracdiff.var function
Hi,I have a question about the fracdiff.var function (package fracdiff) which goal is to recompute more precise confidence intervals for the parameters estimated by fracdiff (or arfima). More precisely, it deals with the standard error of the "d" coefficient : Is it normal that the standard error of the "d" coefficient can be brought customly close to zero by decreasing the

Excel vs. R
Y no

Repeated measures with categorical data
Hello, I am working in a longitudinal study, with a categorical variable as a dependent variable (alcohol consumption: no use, use, abuse and dependence) with repeated measures (baseline, 1 year, 2 years). Besides I have another variable with two groups: control and experimental. I would like to analyze the evolution in each group, I have though in lme, but I am not sure if I can do an lme with
