Fwd: Good installation documentation on samba4?
Hello,
I am looking for good installation instructions for an active directory
domain controller installation of samba4. The only source I have reliably
found is
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Setup_a_Samba_Active_Directory_Domain_Controller
which is unfortunately both incomplete in certain sections and incorrect in
others.
A good example of incomplete information is the guide on the name

I figured out the resolv.conf bit fidgeting around. Thanks for the tip
anyway.
Regarding the krb5.conf I have never got it working with the example files.
I have always added at least a "kdc = samdom.example.com" to the lines, but
my file is actually still a bit more complex(and possibly redundant).
Regarding the troubleshooting page, it is *far* from complete. At the very
least, the

The OS I'm using is Ubuntu 16.04. The previous OS I was working with was
Ubuntu 14.04. The krb issue I had was that the kdc server
" RuntimeError: kinit for DOMAINCONTROLLER$@SAMDOM.EXAMPLE.COM failed
(Cannot contact any KDC for requested realm)".
The modified krb5.conf file I distilled out of information on the internet
helped to create a working version.
When comparing the

And that's great, but it has never worked for me and it is very
demoralizing to follow the instructions and not get a result.

Standalone TC module ?
Hello,
This might seem like a strange question but...
Is there someway to only allow the Traffic Shaping module of Shorewall to
run ? I am already running a bunch of my own firewall and routing scripts
and am really interested in the ease of Shorwalls Traffic Shaping module.
Does anyone know a way to make it fire up separately without any of the
firewall stuff ? (yes I know that sounds

Thanks, I think I found the issue now. My system loves to be stubborn about
DNS. The fact that /etc/resolv.conf is automatically generated from
configuration probably didn't help either. I was convinced the DNS worked,
but the system decided otherwise. It readily explains the Kerberos issue.
The reboot of the system probably reset the DNS and it showed up as a
Kerberos issue.

traffic shaping and classes
I''m looking over this traffic shaping available in the tc* files.
I went through this when I did my own traffic shaping outside of
shorewall previously.
For the average (i.e. home, perhaps) user, I''ve never understood why we
use these more complicated shaping algorithms that define classes and
guaranteed minimums and maximums and so forth.
For most home, or other small use

Define -> Class dependencies not respected
Hello,
I''m encountering an issue which I think is a bug, but I want to propose it
here before filing it for good @puppetlabs,
and be sure it''s not just a misunderstanding.
Actually, I often use a construction where a "main" class would include
some small others that build a complete
service (install, config, service )
Relationship are given (and respected) in the main

Shaping questions
Hello Shorewall users,
I have some questions I am hoping someone can answer. I have searched
around the archives but so far I have been unable to find answers. I
am trying to configure traffic shaping on my router/firewall box
running Shorewall 3.0.5/kernel 2.4.31 and have run into some
problems/questions.
My basic set up is: 1500/256kbit ADSL (PPPoE/ppp0) -> Shorewall box

TC again - now working on VPN traffic
Hi!
It''s me again bothering you guys, what I want to do is to give full
bandwidth to VPN traffic and limit the rest to 30KB/s (kilobytespersecond),
ok?
Here''s what I have:

Shorewall VOIP Traffic Control Configuration
I''m having troubles with my outbound VOIP connection. I''m convinced
that I don''t have QOS/traffic shaping configured properly in my
shorewall linux firewall, which serves as my Asterisk VOIP server and
Internet router/gateway. I don''t have a separate router box. I''ve been
using VOIP for about a year now, but just recently realized that I need

Total lockups using ext3
For several months I have had frequent lockups using 2.4.x kernels. They
began with about 2.4.10 and have continued down to 2.4.17.
They always occur when I am online, downloading. The moden stops, the
hard disk light is on, and no key works. They never happen with 2.2.20
or with earlier (i.e. pre-ext3) 2.4 kernels, and they never occur on my
laptop with any kernel, including those using ext3.

Sanity check please !
I am setting to a shorewall system with 4 NIC''s as per the outline
specification below. Can anyone please have a look and let me know what I
have missed and what I have got wrong as I want to take this system live
ASAP but do not want to kill internet access and the hosting for too long !
I have listed below the system outline & have attached the config files that

Cox with time varying effect
Dear R users,
I am doing Cox regression using coxph(Survival) or cph(Design).
I have time varying effects (diagnosed with schoenfeld residuals Chi2 test and graph) so I first want to split time into 2 separate intervals : t<6months and t>=6months, to estimate one hazard ratio (hr) for each interval.
I am analysing Overall survival according to 3 prognostic factors (age, deep, ldh).
