High-Availability shorewall
Hi all!
I think I remember there have discussion on this topic on this
mailinglist a while ago.
But the archives don''t find anything.
Did anyone here set up a configuration with shorewall and heartbeat
or vrrpd or ucarp?
What would you prefer? Any experiences with failover times, setup
problems etc? Good documentation on this?
Thanks,
Christian

Running Shorewall with WonderShaper on a dual-ISP setup.
I''m currently building a firewall for a network with 2 ISP links.
Unfortunately, one of the ISP''s doesn''t support BGP yet, otherwise I
would be doing load balancing at the router, instead of the firewall.
I''ve been trying to find information on how to get WonderShaper working,
but everything I''ve found talks about setting it up for a firewall with

Shorewall and multicast
Hi, all!
Can I enable multicasting via shorewall?
I have router with Gentoo Linux (one interface to ISP, one with alises - to
local network). Shorewall work perfect!
But now I need setup Quagga (zebra) for dynamic routing between one more
router via another provider.
All routers daemons (zebra, ripd, ospf) used multicasting.
In my configuration already enabled allowBcast and etc.

RE: Apache Virtual Hosts Problem
Thanks all for the response to my problem. Outside interrupts made me set aside the
project temporarily.
Reading your input (one email of which was rejected by our email engine for reasons
unknown) the thinking seems to be that Apache can''t resolve its virtual hostnames. I
had not originally installed the dnsmasq module, so did that. However, there was no
difference in performance. I

3d plot of regression squared error
Hi. I'm trying to create a 3d plot for a teaching example of finding a
least-squares estimate of the parameters to fit a line to some data. I
was hoping to get a nice plot with a clear, single minima where the
derivative of the surface is zero. No matter how much I tinker, I can't
seem to get a simple straightforward plot. Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in anticipation,

restart w/o interrupting
Hi!
I am looking for suggestions how I can add rules (or change the
configuration otherwise) without interrupting of services.
Right now, when I need to do a ''shorewall restart'' all services are
not available during this time.
I tried playing with the ''routestopped'' parameter but without success.
How do you get around this?
Thanks in advance,
Christian

Questions: place for doco, and routestopped during ''shorewall restart''
Hi folks,
A while back we had some discussions about integrating heartbeat and
shorewall. Thanks to your help and the excellent state of Linux
failover clustering, i''ve managed to install my high-availability
firewall. I know there''s already a howto for it at
http://www.xenos.net/library/hafirewall.html, but i thought i would
document my setup for others, since it''s

shorewall restart with keepalived (redundant firewalls)
Hello,
First , thanks to Tom for it''s great job ! Netfilter is really easy
and powerfull with shorewall.
So, I have configured two firewalls whith shorewall using keepalived
for the redundant VRRP stuff.
FW-a is MASTER and FW-b is BACKUP.
Everything works correctly and FW-b upgrade to MASTER when FW-a is
down or disconnected. FW-b downgrade to BACKUP when FW-a comes back.

DISA & SPA3000 issues
Hi,
These days I run into something quite odd.
I have an A@H that was modified to meet our requirements.
We have a completely funtional DISA which we use pretty much all the
time.
I works flawlessly with incomming SIP calls from several providers,
IAX calls from FWD and with ZAP.
Recently we came out with a situation where it doesn't work... with

"shorewall stop"
Although Shorewall provides safeguards against it, people seem to
regularly shoot themselves in the foot when doing remote system
administration. I''ve been thinking about this problem and wonder if a
change to the way that "shorewall stop" behaves might help.
Today, "shorewall stop" stops all traffic except to/from those
destinations listed in

send patchs
Hi all,
I''m working on a patch for shorewall to make it run with a Crossbeam
X40 machine (www.crossbeamsystems.com) and I would like to know where to
send it, is this list the correct location?.
The patch is necesary because of Crossbeam X series running mode: when
you make a shorewall start, restart or clear, there are a packet
dropping until shorewall is Started or cleaned. At

One Remaining Issue Regarding 2.4.0
I believe that 2.4.0 is about ready to be sent out the door. I''ve made a
couple of small changes since RC2 but I don''t believe that they warrant
another RC.
There remains the issue of what to do about support for Shorewall 2.0 given
that 2.2 has only been available since March.
It would be my recommendation to make 2.4 the new "stable" release but
