AMD IOMMU disabled - No Perdev Intremap
Hi! From other people posting to this list, I know that there has been a bug related to the issue described in Xen Security Advisory 36 that disables iommu for some AMD users like me. However, even when passing "iommu=no-amd-iommu-perdev-intremap" it still disables i/o virtualisatoin. Related Xen dmesg output: (XEN) IVHD Error: Invalid IO-APIC 0 (XEN) AMD-Vi: Error initialization

VT-d not working
Hello there, I am using a Gigabyte H55M-UD2H (Intel H55-Chipset) together with a Core-i5-650. According to Gigabyte Support the Mainboard does support VT-d. Well, actually support says, that VT-d does work on Windows-7 in XP-Mode. They do not test and support Linux though. Did anybody here have success using VT-d on any H55-Board? Perhaps it is some misconfiguration on my side. I tried a

XSA-36 / howto fix broken IVRS ACPI table
Hello, since applying the patches related to XSA-36 Xen recognizes a broken IVRS ACPI table and disables I/O virtualisation. I contacted the manufacturer of the mainboard/BIOS and they want to help me by providing a patched BIOS - so far so good. However, they need details about what to fix, which I don''t know either. Could you pls. give me some hints which I can forward to the

[PATCH] AMD IOMMU: add missing checks
For one we shouldn''t accept IVHD tables specifying IO-APIC IDs beyond the limit we support (MAX_IO_APICS, currently 128). And then we shouldn''t memset() a pointer allocation of which failed. Latest AMD, IOMMU Security Change causing CPU0 Panic and general Problems with AMD+IOMMU changes
Hi, unfortunatly your latest change "AMD,IOMMU: Clean up old entries in remapping tables when creating new one" (Changeset 26517 in xen-unstable and 25975 in xen-4.2-testing) is causing a CPU0 Panic at boot for me. When i tried to boot latest versions of xen unstable or xen-testing, my dom0 gives me the message: (XEN) ************************************* (XEN) Panic on CPU 0: (XEN)

[PATCH V2] x86/AMD-Vi: Add additional check for invalid special->handle
From: Suravee Suthikulpanit <suravee.suthikulpanit@amd.com> This patch add an additional logic to check for the often case when the special->handle is not initialized due to firmware bugs. but the special->usedid is correct. If users overide this using the command line option ivrs_ioapic, then it should use the value instead. --- This patch is supposed to follow the patches:

no-amd-iommu-perdev-intremap + no-intremap = BOOM with Xen 4.4 (no-intremap by itself OK).
Hey I wanted to try my hand at doing some GPU passthrough so on my ASUS M5A97 which in the pass worked with an older BIOS (but said BIOS had issues after S3 suspend) - but with a BIOS the PCI passthrough does not work. That is due to:: (XEN) IVHD Error: Invalid IO-APIC 0xff (XEN) AMD-Vi: Error initialization

Re: XSA-36 / howto fix broken IVRS ACPI table
I have the same motherboard. The chipset has 2 IOAPICs: one in the NB (00:00.1), and another in the SB (00:14.0). As currently configured by the BIOS, the NB IOAPIC is _entirely_ disabled, with only the SB IOAPIC enabled and configured. From 48693.pdf, it would seem that the NB is improperly configured, as 6.4.1 recommends that "The IOAPIC should be enabled by the system BIOS and the

[PATCH 0/3] IOMMU errata treatment adjustments

[xen-unstable] Commit 2ca9fbd739b8a72b16dd790d0fff7b75f5488fb8 AMD IOMMU: allocate IRTE entries instead of using a static mapping, makes dom0 boot process stall several times.
Hi Jan, After commit 2ca9fbd739b8a72b16dd790d0fff7b75f5488fb8 AMD IOMMU: allocate IRTE entries instead of using a static mapping, booting dom0 stalls several times. Sometimes this results in RCU stall warnings from the dom0 kernel, hitting the "any" key, on normal or serial console, makes the boot continue for a while but it stalls several times. (It also stalls on shutdown BTW) I have

More Coverity-reported issues.
Another bundle of issues from Coverity triage. The first one is in x86/mm, and looks scarier than it is. The others are all in xen/drivers and AFAICT are pretty minor. Cheers, Tim.

Cannot turn iommu on inside guest
So I want to turn iommu support on in a guest ( <type arch='x86_64' machine='pc-q35-4.1'>hvm</type>). Per [1] I tried to add to devices either <devices> <iommu model='intel'> <driver intremap='on'/> </iommu> </devices> or just a simpler <devices> <iommu model='intel /'> </devices>

[PATCH] VT-d: make remap_entry_to_msi_msg() return consistent message
During debugging of another problem I found that in x2APIC mode, the destination field of the low address value wasn''t passed back correctly. While this is benign in most cases (as the value isn''t being used anywhere), it can be confusing (and misguiding) when printing the value read or when comparing it to the one previously passed into the inverse function. AMD IOMMU intremap tables and IOAPICs
Wei, Quick question: Am I reading the code correctly, that even with per-device interrupt remap tables, that GSIs are accounted to the intremap table of the corresponding IOAPIC, presumably because the IOMMU sees interrupts generated as GSIs as coming from the IOAPIC? In that case, then we need all devices sharing the same IOAPIC must not have any vector collisions. Is that correct? -George

[PATCH] VTD/Intremap: Disable Intremap on Chipset 5500/5520/X58 due to errata
http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/chipsets/5520-and-5500-chipset-ioh-specification-update.html Stepping B-3 has two errata (#47 and #53) related to Interrupt remapping, to which the workaround is for the BIOS to completely disable interrupt remapping. These errata are fixed in stepping C-2. Unfortunately this chipset is very common and many BIOSes are not disabling remapping. We can

VGA passthrough ? AMD-FX8, GA-990FXA-UD3, G210
Hello, Like many trying and posting here, I''m new to VGA passthrough. Computer was bought, checking compatibility from http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/VTd_HowTo The hardware is mostly not exactly on the list, but mainly new versions of the same series (I think). IOMMU "seems" to be working (not 100% sure what to check). I used debian/wheezy kernel and xen, dom0 and HVM domu.

HVM WinXP dom crash
Hi Trying to get WinXP HVM to install as domU on AMD. Got latest Xen Kernel and Xen package (NOT unstable or debug). When start, a window pops up for few seconds.. then it dies and another one comes up... and it disappears too. (Xen is trying to restart and giving up because the restart happens in 2 seconds..) It seems DomU is not able to read/understand something from Cirrus VGABIOS.
