state of ia64 and/or Altix?
What is the current state of Xen ia64 on SGI Altix? I see some Altix patches
from sgi.com, I assume this means it is tested. Is it stable? Are there more
appropriate mailing lists or documentation to query?
Thankyou,
Tim

XFS, inode64, and remount
Hi all,
I was recently poking more into the inode64 mount option for XFS
filesystems. I seem to recall a comment that you could remount a
filesystem with inode64, but then a colleague ran into issues where he
did that but was still out of inodes. So, I did more research, and
found this posting to the XFS list:

Migrate from RHAS 4 to CentOS 4.2
I have a SGI Altix 350 (ia64) that came with RHAS 4, but without any
paid support. I would like to migrate the server over to CentOS.
Here is what I've pieced together from some older posts by Johnny,
can someone confirm this should work? I know this is somewhat
covered in the FAQ, although both entries refer to FC or WBEL, which
already have built-in yum support.

When I was trying to compile R-1.9.1 from source, I've got problems which seemed related to compiling the LAPACK package.
The error message is as follows:

Samba on A SGI Indy Cyclone IRIX system???
Hi there:
We have recently inherited a circa 1996 SGI Indy Colorbus Cyclone running on
Irix.
Our intention is to use this unit to drive our Canon CLC900 Scanner Copier
and make it accessible to our Windows Network.
At the moment, our Windows Network does not "see" the Cyclone & vice versa.
I have read that installing some kind of Windows Samba client onto our

plugin sync and different platforms
Hi All,
I''m trying to write some plugins that should only be sync''d if they''re for a specific platform. For example, in our environment we''re supporting Solaris, Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS and Mac OS X. We''ve developed some OS X plugins and some Solaris plugins but we''ve noticed that our Linux hosts have imported our OS X plugins and now throw

Mounting SMB shares on SGI IRIX
Hello,
We have been successfully using Samba to access Unix filesystems on Windows
computers. So far we only had SGI IRIX computers and very few Windows
computers.
Recently we have started adding Windows clients to the network and now we
wish to do the reverse i.e. access Windows shared areas from SGI computers,
mainly for backup purposes.
We are using Networker to take automated backups.

UC centos 5 with xfs root?
There are 3 issues here: Grub, the kernel and RedHat.
1) Grub won't run in an XFS /boot partition, but will happily run
xfs_state1_5 to boot from an XFS root partition.
2) The kernel has supported XFS quite happily since at least 2005, I am
looking at an SGI Propack 4 manual of February that year and it states
that SLES 9 SP 1 contains the kernels with XFS support.
3) May be an issue.

apt-cacher for CentOS
Hi All,
Is there something similar to apt-cacher available for CentOS? I would
like to ensure that an application is only downloaded once to the
network and not hundreds of times.
If there isn't an equivalent, would someone please point me in the
direction of how I might accomplish this with CentOS?
