General question about PHP
Hello,
Is that possible to disable running of PHP on certain directories?
I am running a server which provides personal homepage service. However, not
every user are familiar with security, some may upload some PHP scripts with
bugs/holes. I do not want them to be executed on the server.
I can enable the safe_mode, but I have some other PHP scripts which need
safe_mode to be disabled.

Selinux custom policy issue - Centos 5
Hi,
I've got a Centos 5 box (recently replaced a Centos4 box of the
same function). The means of applying custom SELinux policy has changed
somewhat from 4->5. I've got it mostly figured out; I have a local.te
file with my custom policy and also which defines a few new file types,
and a local.fc with appropriate defintions of file contexts. When I
run:
# checkmodule -M -m -o

IPTables GUIs
Hi,
This is semi-OT, but is Centos-related.
I'm looking for an IPTables GUI to help us with our expanding
network configuration. I know there's plenty out there, but most of
them seem to manage the firewall on the computer on which they run, or
only handle one firewall at a time. I need one that can easily manage
multiple firewalls from some sort of central location/repository, i.e.

PXE booting HP BL25p - Smart Array extended bios data area problem
Hi,
I recently took delivery of a bunch of HP BL25p blades to add to
my collection. I am attempting to install Centos4 x86_64 using PXE -
the initial PXE DHCP stuff works, and the kernel and initrd are
downloaded, but the server then immediately clears the screen and
displays:

Odd behaviour with modules; looking for some theories
Hi all,
Recently, after doing some maintenance on one of my servers
(Centos 5), I rebooted. On reboot, it didn't find the SAN disks at all,
and after some poking around in maintenance mode, I discovered that it
couldn't find the Qlogic module. It turns out that
/lib/modules/<kernel-version>/modules.alias, modules.dep and such were
all empty or just had their header comment lines.

SQLite with PHP5 problem
Has anyone ever installed PHP5 with SQLiteDatabase class support in CentOS
4.3?
I have to run a program with this class for a core feature.
But unfortunately, both the php 5.0.4 package in centosplus and a SRPM build
from FC5 will not work with this class.
With the error "undefined class SQLiteDatabase"!
And there *IS* the "pdo_sqlite.so" extension in my php.d/pdo.ini file, as

flintlock fork causes hang in Apache+Python+mod_python
I am trying to use Xapian 1.0.2 with the Python SWIG
bindings withn an environment consisting of Apache
httpd with mod_python. (not as a CGI) Also this is
Linux.
Whenever the python code attempts to open a database
the entire httpd process will hang indefinitely. The
python bindings work outside of the apache/mod_python
environment.

Trac in mod_python
I''ve set the Trac sites up to use mod_python now (as I should have in
the first place), so you can now get all trac sites at https://
reductivelabs.com/trac/$name, where $name is the project name, e.g.,
puppet. It should be a good bit faster now.
The old locations will work indefinitely, but I''ve changed all (I
hope) of the links to point to this new location.

Samba and Scalix
I'm hoping to integrate a shared folder(s) so that we may be able to
drag and drop files from various OSs into a shared folder on a
CentOS server which can be accessed via Scalix SWA or some other email
client.
Maybe I'm totally off base with how Scalix stores files in public
folders... maybe everything has to be in mbox format for all folders and
this could never work.....
Anyway, I

rsync question
I'm trying to rsync a 8TB data folder containing squillions of small files and it's taking forever (i.e. weeks) to get anywhere.
I'm assuming the slow bit is check-summing everything with a single CPU (even though it's on a 12-core server ;-( )
Is it possible to do something simple like scp the whole dir in one go so they're duplicates in the first instance, then get rsync to

Documentation of R Version 2 binary file format (.rda)
Is there a document available that gives a clear description
of the layout of data in a version 2 .RDA file. I have a free
program (http://www.vsn-intl.com/genstat/downloads/datald.htm)
(Windows/Linux/Sun MOTIF exes available) that reads and writes
a wide range of file formats, and have been requested by my users
to add R to this. It already does S+.
