[RFC PATCH 0/2] GLOBAL() macro for asm code.
Hello, This series has been split into two patches, one for arm and one for x86. I figured that this was easier than doing it as a single combined patch, especially as the changes are functionally independent. x86 has been boot tested, but arm has not even been compile tested as I lack a suitable cross compiler. However, the changes are just text replacement, so I dont expect any issues. The

Question on local_irq_save/local_irq_retore
Hi, I have some confusion on local_irq_save() and local_irq_restore(). From the definitions, you can see that local_irq_save() calls local_irq_disable(). But why there is no local_irq_enable() in local_irq_restore? #define local_irq_save(x) ({ local_save_flags(x); local_irq_disable(); }) #define local_irq_restore(x) ({ BUILD_BUG_ON(sizeof(x) != sizeof(long)); asm volatile (

[PATCH v2 0/4] XEN: fix vmx exception mistake
Changes from v1: - Define new struct hvm_trap to represent information of trap, include instruction length. - Renames hvm_inject_exception to hvm_inject_trap. Then define a couple of wrappers around that function for existing callers, so that their parameter lists actually *shrink*. This series of patches fix the mistake for debug exception(#DB), overflow exception(#OF) and INT3(#BP),

[PATCH 0/3] XEN: fix vmx exception mistake
This series of patches fix the mistake for debug exception(#DB), overflow exception(#OF) and INT3(#BP), INTn instruction emulation. Introduce new function vmx_inject_sw_exception() which deliver the software excetion, software interrupt and privileged software exception. Split hardware exception as a seperate function(old function vmx_inject_hw_exception()). Also Passed down intruction length

Sorry if this is a repost .. I have edited my query a little bit and my previous post was too long and so was waiting approval(I cancelled it) Ok. Another question.. I have installed the Search ::Xapian on my local machine. Now I'm trying to install it on a machine where i dont have root access. So while running configure of the Xapian library I gave the -prefix option and everything installed

uncaught C++ exception from Perl Search::Xapian XS?
I'm using Search::Xapian XS from Debian stable and I'm getting what appears to be an unwrapped C++ exception: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'Xapian::DatabaseModifiedError' Using `eval' from Perl5 doesn't seem effective in catching it. I'm using postlist_begin, postlist_end and ++ to iterate a PositionIterator, and reading XS/*Iterator.xs, I see the

[Patch] Add VMX memory-mapped Local APIC access optimization
Some operating systems access the local APIC TPR very frequently, and we handle that using software-based local APIC virtualization in Xen today. Such virtualization incurs a number of VM exits from the memory-access instructions against the APIC page in the guest. The attached patch enables the TPR shadow feature that provides APIC TPR virtualization in hardware. Our tests indicate it can

Xen 3.0.2 FC5 Reboots
I just upgraded my Fedora Core 5 Xen server from 1 gig or memory to 2. When I start the machine it begins to load the Xen kernel and then reboots. I can boot the machine on straight FC5 without Xen. If I put it back to 1 gig of memory Xen will boot fine. I looked in the xend.log and didn''t see anything. I do see some kind of page_fault error on the screen before the server reboots.

[PATCHv3] xen/x86: don't corrupt %eip when returning from a signal handler
From: David Vrabel <david.vrabel@citrix.com> In 32 bit guests, if a userspace process has %eax == -ERESTARTSYS (-512) or -ERESTARTNOINTR (-513) when it is interrupted by an event /and/ the process has a pending signal then %eip (and %eax) are corrupted when returning to the main process after handling the signal. The application may then crash with SIGSEGV or a SIGILL or it may have subtly

CentOS 6.4 tcp_fatretrans_alert causes panic
Hi all, Our kernel is 2.6.32-358.14.1.x86_64, recently dozens of them panicked, since it's been OK for a long time and the problem emerged all of a sudden, I'm not sure if an upgrade caused this problem. Here's what I got from backtracing: PID: 8136 TASK: ffff8803341aead0 CPU: 2 COMMAND: "" #0 [ffff880028283610] panic at ffffffff815286b8 #1 [ffff880028283690]
