[PATCH] xen/grant-table: Refactor gnttab_[un]map_refs to avoid m2p_override
(This is a continuation of "[PATCH v9] xen/grant-table: Avoid m2p_override during mapping") The grant mapping API does m2p_override unnecessarily: only gntdev needs it, for blkback and future netback patches it just cause a lock contention, as those pages never go to userspace. Therefore this series does the following: - the bulk of the original function (everything after the mapping

[PATCH] xen/gntdev: do not set VM_PFNMAP
Since when we are using the m2p_override it is not true anymore that the mmap''ed area doesn''t have corresponsing struct pages. Removing the VM_PFNMAP flag makes get_user_pages work on the mmap''ed user vma. An example test case would be using a Xen userspace block backend (QDISK) on a file on NFS using O_DIRECT. The patch should be backported back to 2.6.38.

[PATCH v2] xen/gntdev: do not set VM_PFNMAP
Since we are using the m2p_override we do have struct pages corresponding to the user vma mmap''ed by gntdev. Removing the VM_PFNMAP flag makes get_user_pages work on that vma. An example test case would be using a Xen userspace block backend (QDISK) on a file on NFS using O_DIRECT. The patch should be backported back to 2.6.38. Signed-off-by: Stefano Stabellini

[PATCH v3 1/2] xen: enter/exit lazy_mmu_mode around m2p_override calls
This patch is a significant performance improvement for the m2p_override: about 6% using the gntdev device. Each m2p_add/remove_override call issues a MULTI_grant_table_op and a __flush_tlb_single if kmap_op != NULL. Batching all the calls together is a great performance benefit because it means issuing one hypercall total rather than two hypercall per page. If paravirt_lazy_mode is set

moved from ruby 1.8.6 to 1.8.7 and "We're sorry, but something went wrong."
I''m a windows user, and I was using ruby 1.8.6 installer over at RubyInstaller.org. All was working well, but I decided to give ruby 1.8.7 a try. I uninstalled 1.8.6, downloaded and installed ruby 1.8.7 from rubyinstaller, reinstalled rails and all of my gems, and copied over sqlite3.def and sqlite3.dll to the Ruby/bin. I then my start my server (just using webrick for now, same as

Timer ISR: Timer went backwards [NetBSD 3.1 / Xen 2.0.7]
I''m using a NetBSD 3.1 dom0 with Xen 2.0.7 (so far as I know, the latest supported combination for the NetBSD platform). Linux domUs have their logs fill with messages like this: May 8 02:01:39 debian kernel: Timer ISR: Time went backwards: -316000 131542680000000 9684000 131542690000000 May 8 02:01:39 debian kernel: Timer ISR: Time went backwards: -277000 131542680000000 9723000

[amr] raid config went from RAID5 to RAID0 ?
I just noticed something very strange on one of our Dell PE1750 servers. It is running FreeBSD 4-STABLE on dual CPU's with the embedded Dell Raid controller (amr driver). Attached are 3 disks of 145GB. On a RAID5 logical drive this gives me ~280GB storage. Up until the last reboot (35 days ago) the 'amrcontrol' status utility gave me: Logical drive 0 Stipes blah Size blah

[PATCH]: Add "Warning" to the time went backwards messages
All, Attached is a patch from Prarit Bhargava, who is not subscribed to the list (but CC''ed). His description follows: Add "Warning" to the "Time went backwards" message. Most QA groups (if not all) grep for specific messages in the syslog such as "Error", "Warning", "Oops". Time went backwards is a key error which can result in

OCFS2 went too slow
Hello, I have a 1TB ocfs partition mounted on mail server. It was a cluster before, but as one of the machines failed, the cluster has been taken by only one machine for ages. This server has courier-pop and imap, postfix and maildrop to deliver messages to the mailboxes. System is debian Etch, ocfs2-tools version 2.1. Recently, I tryed to insert a new machine into this cluster. Just right

iax went away
I just had a situation where I could not get calls from or out to one of my IAX2 boxes to another. The one which seemed to have a problem didn't show the server in its "iax2 show registry" list. I reloaded and the register showed up. Looking at the server, when I called the number I got the message: Jun 2 20:48:34 NOTICE[25542]: chan_iax2.c:2209 auto_congest: Auto-congesting

Went with OpenDNS for now
A few weeks ago I asked about firewalls and family filters. Lanny Marcus, I believe, suggested OpenDNS. Just wanted to thank him (and everyone here) for their suggestions. Eventually I would like to learn about firewalls, but I don't really want to run another machine at this time. OpenDNS is trivial to set up on the router and looks to be just about exactly what I wanted. Thanks. Sorry to
