[PATCH] blkback: Fix block I/O latency issue
In blkback driver, after I/O requests are submitted to Dom-0 block I/O subsystem, blkback goes to ''sleep'' effectively without letting blkfront know about it (req_event isn''t set appropriately). Hence blkfront doesn''t notify blkback when it submits a new I/O thus delaying the ''dispatch'' of the new I/O to Dom-0 block I/O subsystem. The new I/O is

[PATCH] multi-page blkfront/blkback patch
Hi,
Here is the refreshed version of the multi-page ring patch for
blkfront and blkback. I currently don''t have time to refresh the
blktap part of the patch. The patch should apply cleanly to the
following changeset in the linux 2.6.18 tree:

[PATCH 0 of 2] Paging support updates for XCP dom0
This is a cherry pick of two patches that add support for guest paged out
frames in the XCP 2.6.32 dom0 patch queue.
First patch propagates the ENOENT returned by the hypervisor in the case
of a paged out page, all the way up the call chain to the MMAPBATCH_V2
ioctl. The ioctl is mainly used to harvest those return values and retry.
The second patch adds retry loops to all backend grant

[PATCH] xen-blk[front|back] FUA additions.
I am proposing these two patches for 3.2. They allow the backend
to process the REQ_FUA request as well. Previous to these patches
it only did REQ_FLUSH. There is also a bug-fix for the logic
of how barrier/flushes were handled.
The patches are based on a branch which also has ''feature-discard''
patches, so they won''t apply nativly on top of 3.1-rc5.

RFC: removing hardcoded "modprobe blktap" in xencommons
Hi Jan
Back before 4.3 release you complaint about the hardcoded modprobe for
blktap / blktap2 in xencommons script. I started to look into it this
week and tried to do this modprobe automatically in libxl (that''s the
idea we discussed before 4.3 IIRC).
Unfortunately I didn''t manage to find any canonical documents on how a
user space process can trigger a modprobe.

[PATCH] Persistent grant maps for xen blk drivers
This patch implements persistent grants for the xen-blk{front,back}
mechanism. The effect of this change is to reduce the number of unmap
operations performed, since they cause a (costly) TLB shootdown. This
allows the I/O performance to scale better when a large number of VMs
are performing I/O.
Previously, the blkfront driver was supplied a bvec[] from the request
queue. This was granted to

Hey Jens,
Please in your spare time (if there is such a thing at a conference)
pull this branch:

for your v3.10 branch. Sorry for being so late with this.

netfront/back documentation on wiki
Hi all,
I''ve taken a stab at documenting the current interface between netfront
and netback drivers, here:
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenNetFrontBackInterface
Currently, the only way for non-Linux implementers to adhere to this
interface is to study the Linux netfront driver, which has a great deal
of optimizations and is not meant to be documentation.
I''d love it if

[PATCH] xen-blk(front|back): Handle large physical sector disks
I accidentally realized today that any domU''s using the paravirt disk driver
potentially suffer from poor performance when they get handed in a physical
volume and partitioning is done inside the guest. The physical volume passed in
has to be one that has the compat 512 logical sector size but hints its real
sector size (eg. 4096) as physical sector size.
In dom0 handling is correct and

[PATCH 0 of 4] aio event fd support to blktap2
Get blktap2 running on pvops.
This mainly adds eventfd support to the userland code. Based on some
prior cleanup to tapdisk-queue and the server object. We had most of
that in XenServer for a while, so I kept it stacked.
1. Clean up IPC and AIO init in tapdisk-server.
[I think tapdisk-ipc in blktap2 is basically obsolete.
Pending a later patch to remove it?]
2. Split tapdisk-queue into

Re: Re: XAPI on debian - sr-create issue
You''re right scout the last line. Out looks like xapi is waiting on tapdisk to plug a key into xenstore. Perhaps a udev rule problem? Perhaps someone who knows more about tapdisk than I well be able to diagnose this tomorrow.

RE: [GIT/PATCH 0/5] Re: unfair servicing of DomU vbd requests
Hi James.
I go through the patch, since all its changes happens inside __xen_evtchn_do_upcall(),
so I apply the patch into my 2.6.31.kernel by manual. (I was failed to merge a usable,
2.6.38dom0, since quite a lot branch needed, such as blkback, netback)
But still, the blue screen shows up. Log attached.
Is the timeout better than before?
Beside, I think I need find some to examine my

[PATCH RFC] xen/netback: Count ring slots properly when larger MTU sizes are used
Hi,
I ran into an issue where netback driver is crashing with BUG_ON(npo.meta_prod > ARRAY_SIZE(netbk->meta)). It is happening in Intel 10Gbps network when larger mtu values are used. The problem seems to be the way the slots are counted. After applying this patch things ran fine in my environment. I request to validate my changes.
Thanks

xenpaging fixes for kernel and hypervisor
Patrick,
there following patches fix xenpaging for me.
Granttable handling is incomplete. If a page is gone, a GNTST_eagain
should be returned to the caller to inidcate the hypercall has to be
retried after a while, until the page is available again.
Please review.
