3.5.0 dom0 crash on boot
Hi,
I''ve not tried pv_ops for a long time but just got a new system
(Supermicro X9DRL-iF) so decided to try 3.5.0 with the latest Xen
4.2-unstable, unfortunately the system crashes immediately after
loading dom0:

I''ve tried loading both bzImage and vmlinuz (gzip compressed vmlinuz)

Uneven CPU speed with CentOS 4.4 on a Mac Pro
Hi list,
I've recently managed to install CentOS 4.4 on an Apple Mac Pro.
Functionality-wise everything works great, but when trying to benchmark
the system, I don't get stable runtimes, they differ by more than 30%.
For example a benchmark run with our PDE solving code takes between 500
and 800 s on the completely unloaded machine.
Suspicious kernel output (complete output attached):

sio => uart: one port is gone
This is a fairly standard and old machine with 2 COM ports.
Recently (last Friday) I decided to update my RELENG_7 system and also
to transition from sio to uart.
This what I had before the upgrade:
kernel: sio0: <16550A-compatible COM port> port 0x3f8-0x3ff irq 4 flags
0x10 on acpi0
kernel: sio0: type 16550A
kernel: sio0: [FILTER]

[PATCH 6/8] ns16550: PCI initialization adjustments
Besides single-port serial cards, also accept multi-port ones and such
providing mixed functionality (e.g. also having a parallel port).
Reading PCI_INTERRUPT_PIN before ACPI gets enabled generally produces
an incorrect IRQ (below 16, whereas after enabling ACPI it frequently
would end up at a higher one), so this is useful (almost) only when a
system already boots in ACPI mode.

USB ports on Lenovo T400 do not work after a suspend/resume
Hi,
FreeBSD-9 works fine on this Lenovo T400 - except that suspending with
no USB devices plugged in result in no ports working after resume.
If I have a device plugged in during suspend - on any port - then all
the ports work fine after resume.
I've attached usbconfig and acpidump output.
here's what is logged in the kernel buffer during suspend and resume:
Her'es the suspend:

Xen 3.2.1, Intel DQ35JO tips
I thought I''d pass along a few tips for getting the Intel DQ35JO
motherboard to play nice with Xen:
1. The dom0 kernel won''t boot with CONFIG_PCI_MMCONFIG enabled.
If you get a hang during boot after seeing this message:
ACPI: PCI Root Bridge [PCI0] (0000:00)
...then MMCONFIG is your problem.
Some kernels seem to support a pci=nommconfig option, but my Gentoo

4.2 Lockup on Fujitsu-Siemens Primergy Econel 200
Hello everybody,
I'm looking for some insights on reproductible lockups with this server
so please bear the long description that follows:
Installed the 4.0 Centos than yum updated it so it results a 4.2 Centos
fully updated. During the instalation and update there were no cold
boots. That's important because if (updated Centos or not) you cold boot
the server it stucks at the

[UART] GPS 18-5Hz LVC and COM1 silence, OK on Linux though...
Hi,
I'm having issues connecting Garmin GPS 18 to COM1 on 9.1, I get
nothing but silence. Identical setup works absolutely fine with Linux.
I've got PPS wire connected to DCD, but that seems to make no
difference on Linux, so I presume it shouldn't affect fbsd either.
On Linux, I get:

Setting up a pci passthrough device
I have been investigating pci pass-through for virtualized
guests and the documentation I have found seems to me to
lack a certain consistency in its example. This may be
due to my not understanding what it is trying to inform
me.
What I wish to do is to configure a pci multi-port serial
i/o card for use by a single virtual host.
I start by running lspci -v on the host to identify the
serial

[PATCH] Handle MSI irq storm
<<handle_msi_irq_storm.patch>> Hi, Keir,
This patch handles MSI irq storm. Unluckily, I have observed this
phenomenon again. This will happen when some kind of MSI-X capable NIC
is assigned to an HVM guest. The basic idea is to mask the interrupt on
receiving the second interrupt and set a timer to unmask after 1ms.
Can you have a look and give some comments on that? Thanks!

Xen hypervisor failed to startup when booting CPUs
Hi Folks:
I run into a problem when enabling Xen in next generation server platforms with Xen c/s is 21380.
Xen reported "CPU Not responding" when booting up 32 CPUs( 2 sockets with 8 cores/16threads total). The log files belonging showed something wrong with APCI. So I added x2apic=0 in the xen grub line, but the symptom remained.
However, Native RHEL5.5 can

cannot boot any domU - case #2
Hi,
I noticed the earlier thread on this started by Scott Koranda (sorry
- was reading off gmane so I can''t reply to thread)
I have exactly the same symptoms: machine hangs as soon as I attempt
to start a single domU, just after emitting "using config file..."
At that point the machine appears completely wedged. The sequence of

Xen 3.4.2 DomU Network Issues
I''ve got a new system with Dual Quad Core Intel E5520 processors and
Intel 82576 NICs built on the motherboard (this is a Supermicro Nehalem
based blade). I''m running Xen 3.4.2, but I''ve also tried 3.4.1 and had
the same problem.
Dom0''s network works flawlessly, but the DomU systems all have network

3.0.4 ACPI support and Opteron 2210 ?
Hello,
I originally posted this to xen-users, but someone suggested I post it here.
I am having ACPI problems on a PenguinComputing Altus1600 system.
It has 2x dual core Opteron 2210 processors.
The system boots with a standard Debian or Ubuntu SMP kernel, with ACPI
enabled. However the xen live cd, binary xen install, as well as my own custom
compile of xen 3.0.4 from source will not boot.
