Changing php5 with php4 in CentOS 5
Hi,
In our server CentOS 5 is installed. Some of our web pages are compatible
with php4 but in centOS 5 , php5 is installed and we cannot see our pages.
I want to remove php5 and install php4 but i could not find php4 rpm for
CentOS 5. Can anybody help me?

php5 rpm to be installed in parallel with php4?
Hi,
I'm looking for a php5 rpm which I can install in parallel with php4. Therefore,
the centosplus rpm is (AFAIK) not usable for me as it replaces php4.
Does centos provide an php5 rpm which does not touch my php4? Is there a
matching srpm on web?

Hey Guys,
I need to run PHP4/PHP5 from the same physical server.
I have apache + php5 currently.
Im thinking of creating a new apache and php4 from srpms and installing
It all in say /opt/apache_php4 and then running it from its own IP since
The server has two external IP addresses available.
Just wondering if anybody here has needed to do the same in the past and
what did you do to achieve

best way to upgrade php4 -> php5 on CentOS?
What is the best way to upgrade PHP4 to PHP5 on CentOS? I see from "rpm -qa"
that I'm running PHP-4.3.9.
Should I uninstall this old PHP4 package and then reinstall PHP5? Or is
there some cool yum upgrade thing I might run?
This is a VMware virtual box for testing, so I'm more concerned about
learning what to do, rather than interrupting anything.

PHP 5.2
To me, there seems to be growing support to requiring PHP 5.2 within the
next year, see http://www.gophp5.org/ . Does anyone know of plans to
release PHP 5.2 RPMS in any of the major repos?

PHP5 questions
If I install PHP5 from centosplus it will replace PHP4, is this correct?
Or is there a way to have it installed in parallel? I know I can't run
both modules at the same time, but I'd prefer having them installed in
parallel, so I can switch back/between easier.
When I try updating I get a dependency warning from php-eaccelerator (from
dag repo) - can I ignore that? Searching thru my

I'm running Debian stable (etch) on a server, and have the following Xapian
packages installed.

php4 under Centos6
Hello, is there any way of getting php4 installed on Centos6? I'd like
to install it in an apache/fastcgi environment.
Has anybody got a link to a description/howto describing a clean install?
I failed compiling the original php4 tar ball and failed relocating the
php binary.

PHP help required
Dear all Salam!!!
i am using php+mysql for jffnms. i installed php myadmin for mysql
administration. after login to
phpmyadmin it says mbstring missing.....
i search the yum has php-mbstring.... but when i install it using yum it
says:
php 4.3.9 update
php-snmp update
My question is if install php-mbstring, will php be effected and shows
abnormal behaviour to jffnms????

How to export X displays
I have a CentOS server at home and want to view the X display on a laptop running Ubuntu, and not having much success.
Here's what's been tried so far:
I ran this command on the CentOS server:
export DISPLAY=192.168.0.18:0.0
And ran this command on the Ubuntu laptop:
xauth +192.168.0.2
When I try to run, say, xclock on the Ubuntu laptop, this is the error message I'm getting:

A couple of questions. Are there any linux tools that can de-frag an
ext2/3 partition?
Are there any advantages to doing so if you're running hardware RAID5?
Are there advantages / disadvantages if you're running LVM?

printing problem
Salam,
I am using CentOs 4.4, i have network printer with ip 192.168.1.88. when i click
the option to print document, it seems everything is OK, printer shows
with bliking
of Data light but no print.....
what i am missing???

Is there a possibility that we can run MRTG command in seconds????
The only thing is know is we can run MRTG in one minute other than standard
5 minutes....

logrotate problem
Dear All Salam,
I have syslog server running logs of network devices, I am facing problem
about two weeks that
my weekly log is not rotating, as i manually runs the script it does,
secondly i put the entry
in cron.daily, still today i checked but no log rotation.... manually
running is fine.
02 4 * * * root run-parts /etc/cron.daily

Automatic FTP problem in cron
Dear Concerns,
I have backup script which TAR the data, makes one copy on local hardisk and
then FTP to another machine.
Last few days i m facing problem with it. The cron job only makes the copy
automatically on local disk but
doesnot automatically FTP to another machine.
I ran the script manually, the script runs successfully.
For trouble shooting i displayed the output in some file and shown

logrotation
Dear all Salam,
i have installed logrotation package in BSD, the script runs every night at
3:00 pm night and makes
filename.1.gz. but when i use less command to see this gz file it says "do u
want to see binary file??"
through which utility i can see the contants of the file???
