rebuilding rpmdevtools from epel5 SRC has fc7 dependent
hello,
I'm suprised that an SRC.RPM from the rhel5 repo needs a file from FC7.
I grabbed rpmdevtools from
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/epel/5/
it rebuilds fine as EL5, but when I go to install it, it requires a version of rpm-build higher than the C5 base version (4.4.2-37)

Q. re rpmdevtools
CentOS-5.7
rpmdevtools-6.8-1
Following installation of rpmdevtools when I run
rpmdev-setuptree as root, then root has a directory
rpmbuild created in its home directory. If I do this as a
non-privileged user instead then nothing happens.
What am I missing?

If you have set up an RPM build server then you should have installed
the rpmbuild and rpmdevtools packages. If you have installed the

Trying to use current R2spec on RHEL.
Is there somewhere a succinct guide to just how much extra crud we need
to install on RHEL to make use of EPEL packages?

Quick notes on R with F7
Hi all,
Just a quick heads up that I made the plunge into F7 this week.
R version 2.5.0 Patched (2007-06-05 r41831) compiles and passes make
check-all. F7 is using:
[marcs at Bellerophon ~]$ gcc --version
gcc (GCC) 4.1.2 20070502 (Red Hat 4.1.2-12)
Some quick F7 notes:
1. Do a clean install rather than an 'in place' upgrade from FC6 or a
prior version. There are a lot of changes,

Clone physical into virtual
Is there a formal, or preferred, method for importing a physical
CentOS machine into a VMware instance? I know they make
software to move Windows machines, but I couldn't find one to
handle our CentOS servers. I have done something via scp/sftp
in the past, which *seemed* to work, but if there's a better way
I'm more than interested in hearing the process.
Thanks!

centos 5.0 setting up an iscsi target
Can someone point me to some documentation on how to set up centos 5.0 as an
iscsi target?
I'm completely new to iscsi so need something basic.

instance variables in templates
Hey all,
Well... hmm... feeling pretty stupid here...
For some reason my controller instance variables are not displaying
in my templates. I''ve boiled it down to this test case.
class Rss::FilmController < ApplicationController
def display
@time = Time.now
end
end
and the template:

something is missing. When I build the 2.6.18-8.1.3 kernel from

KStars on CentOS 4.4?
Is there an RPM for this? I think it's in the kdeedu package on the FC6
DVD. My wife is an amateur astronomer and she uses this excellent
program. If upstream isn't including it, can I get it and not break my
CentOS 4.4 system? (Also, I'd like to migrate her and my daughter to
CentOS). TIA, Lanny

Yeah. I completely punted on exception handling in general, since at
the moment there is really no hope for integrating
