Serial Console Not Connecting to Dom0 on Ubuntu Server 12 Running Xen 4.1.3
Xen-users, I have what I think is a bug in the serial console interaction of Xen and Ubuntu. Essentially, the serial console appears to work just fine until it is passed off to dom 0 from Xen. Then it stops communicating with dom0, but still communicates with Xen, if I use the control-A escape sequence. Google will not show me anything related to this. I have local RS-232 serial console working

ubuntu 11.10, system V runlevel compatability
I''m having a problem with the boot sequence hanging indefinitely at "stopping system V runlevel compatibility". Here are the steps I took to get to this point: 1) installed a single boot, server version of ubuntu 11.10 (intended to be dom0) 2) apt-get install xen-hypervisor-4.1-amd64 xen-utils-4.1 xenwatch xen-tools xen-utils-common xenstore-utils 3) updated grub as follows: -

Bug#703586: Xen fails to boot Linux
Package: xen-hypervisor-4.1-amd64 Version: 4.1.4-2 Severity: important I've installed wheezy Linux successfully (ref. bug 703469). Installed xen-linux-system-amd64, with the diversion in http://wiki.debian.org/Xen#Prioritise_Booting_Xen_Over_Native followed by "grub-install". Xen appears to boot (messages go by fast), then I get a blank screen, followed seconds later by a

CentOS7 - Serial Console and Flow Control
Hello List, I'm ironing out details to upgrade a few systems to CentOS7. My servers have BMC with Serial over LAN support. In C5 and C6, I determined how to have BIOS/POST, kernel, and serial console access. I'm reading up on the method to accomplish the pieces with C7. Presently SoL output works, so I see BIOS/POST messages and the GRUB boot list. My changes to enable serial

memdisk - grub2
I've been trying to use memdisk with grub2 to boot some iso images -( I've done this without any problem with pxe ) There is a memdisk.mod in /boot/grub/ and I've seen some material talking about this, but no example of a menu. After trying countless permutations - Right now I have : menuentry "Memtest-Plus 4.2" { echo `hello` insmod lvm

CentOS 7 kernel console under KVM?
Is there a way to get GRUB2 and the kernel to run a "serial" console under KVM? I'm running a Fedora 20 desktop, with libvirt-managed VMs. When I run a CentOS 6 VM, I can set both the boot loader and kernel up to use ttyS0 and get a console compatible with "virsh console". When I try the same with a CentOS 7 VM, it doesn't work. If I set it to ttyS0, I just

Problem with pxelinux 5.10 and memtest86+ 4.20
Deal developers, I'd like to follow the thread http://www.zytor.com/pipermail/syslinux/2013-April/019761.html but change the subject to 'pxelinux 5.10 and memtest86+ 4.20' and provide more test cases. The pxelinux before version 5, e.g. version 4.06, worked very well with memtest86+ 4.20, all my PXE client machines, including VMWare workstation 9, VirtualBox 4.2, and all the real

Version 5.01 not passing kernel command line args to memtest86+as it can understand
Hello, I'm trying to pass the serial port options to memtest86+ using Syslinux 5.01 but is not working. Debugging the memtest86+, the check at main.cpp function static void parse_command_line(void) if (*OLD_CL_MAGIC_ADDR != OLD_CL_MAGIC) return; Is being evaluated to true. What should I do? There is a way to instruct memtest to use the "old way" to pass

Plop Boot Manager quit working with 5.10
I have updated syslinux in Parted Magic's test version to the 5.10 release. With 4.06 I booted plop like this: LINUX /boot/plpbt/plpbt.bin Now it says /boot/plpbt/plpbt.bin... ok Booting kernel failed: Invalid argument Other "extras" like IPXE, HDT, memtest86+, chntpw, Super Grub Disk, etc... all work with 5.10. Revert to 4.06 and plop works again. Is this a problem with syslinux

Problem with pxelinux 5.0 and memtest
Hello, This is my first post to this list. After searching through the archives and google searches I could not find a solution for my memtest problem. In previous versions of pxelinux/gpxelinux (4.04 and 4.06) I could successfully start the memtest utility. But using pxelinux/gpxelinux versions 5.01 and 5.02 the memtest utility does not boot and I get an error message: boot: Loading

memtest86+.. How do I load it with pxelinux?
I've just spent at least half an hour swapping files, downloading things and stuffing around with memtest86 and memtest86+. I can't get either to start from pxelinux. Currently I have "memtest86" as the filename, and i'm trying to load it direct (not trying to use memdisk or anything). This just results in a near instant reboot. Am I doing something wrong? I can't
