Request for explanation on NFS re-export issue
I have a situation involving Samba that I _believe_ may be the fault of a buggy or old NFS daemon, but am not sure. I'm hoping someone can explain to me what is going on here (I have found a workaround). I have a Samba server on Fedora 7 (3.0.25b + whatever patches Fedora includes). This server exports a share called software which points to a local directory on that server /software.

NFS boot of Xen DomU - Goes to NFS version 2
Hi, I''m facing a typical problem of booting Xen DomU through NFS server. I have cleanly booted Xen guest (Debian) through NFS Server. But the problem is that the NFS version between my server and my debian system is version 2. I want to play around with version 3. My /etc/fstab of my debian system (DomU) which I am accessing through NFS server looks like this.

CentOS 7 NFS client problems
What does your /etc/idmapd.conf look like on the server side? I fought with this quite a bit a while ago, but my use case was a bit different, and I was working with CentOS 5 and 6. Still, the kicker for me was updating the [Translation] section of /etc/idmapd.conf. Mine looks like this: [Translation] Method = nsswitch GSS-Methods = nsswitch, static You said you're not using Kerberos or

Dovecot permission denied errors on NFS after upgrade to 2.2.17
Hi Jochen, the ID has not changed, in addition the "permission denied" error is random, most of the time Dovecot works well. How can I check the mappings NFS uses? After the Debian upgrade I was using these NFS mount options: rw,user,rsize=8192,wsize=8192,timeo=30,intr Now trying to fix the problem I set "defaults" mount option, but nothing has changed. XEN timeout value for NFS?
Team, Sorry to bother your busy day! I was hoping you could guide me to the right direction. One of our users are running the open source version of Xen that comes bundled in Red Hat''s RHEL 5.3 and 5.4 products. Running XEN over NFS. We would like to know the XEN timeout value for NFS. Is it true that Xen has a hardcode timeout value for NFS. Is it true that it is recommended we run

Help needed with NFS issue
I have four NFS servers running on Dell hardware (PE2900) under CentOS 5.7, x86_64. The number of NFS clients is about 170. A few days ago, one of the four, with no apparent changes, stopped responding to NFS requests for two minutes every half an hour (approx). Let's call this "the hang". It has been doing this for four days now. There are no log messages of any kind pertaining

Proposal for DTrace probes for NFS v3 client
Hi, This is a proposal for probes for NFS v3 client(see attachment). These probes are under a new DTrace provider: nfsv3client. These new probes support tracing NFS v3 client activities such as sending RPC requests to NFS v3 server and receiving RPC replies from NFS v3 server. Formats and arguments of these new probes are quite similar to existing NFS v3 probes on server side (provider: nfsv3).

NFS Mount: files owned by nobody
This is one of those simple-been-doing-this-forever things that, for some reason, has me stumped today. When I try to NFS (v4) mount a directory, the user/group ownership shows up as user "nobody" even though /etc/passwd has values for the correct user names. How do I get it to mount with the correct user IDs? Hume is the server, running CentOS 6, all updates applied, maybe a week
