ATI/AMDs atikmpag.sys BSOD while vga passthrough
Hi everyone since I''m currently migrating from xm to xl and now are also a victim of the said error, I started researching on it and found that many people had the issue but not many found solution and behind this BSOD (=Bluescreen of Death), there are actually multiple errors in hiding. What I would like to do is gather as much info as possible in this thread to form a kind of

ATI VGA Passthrough / Xen 4.2 / Linux 3.8.6
Hi, I''m trying to get VGA passthrough to work to an XP x64 guest, and I''m seeing "interesting" things happening. I''m using the kernel and userspace tools from here: http://xen.crc.id.au/support/guides/install/# on Scientific Linux 6. I gave up on trying to get an Nvidia card to work in the guest having read about the extra patches required to get a

Status of FLR in Xen 4.4
Hi everyone, I would like to ask what the current status of FLR, or better of FLR emulation is in latest Xen and if we can expect better support in the future. I''m asking because with xl (latest build and traditional qemu, not upstream), I always had problems with rebooting domUs which have vga cards passed through to them, because appearently they don''t get reinitialized and

VGA Passthrough (NVIDIA) - current status?
Hi everyone, Sorry if this gets asked over and over again, but I just joined the list and wanted to ask what the current status of the VGA-passthrough possibilities is. Today I set up my new workstation that has a Kepler card in it and compiled XEN 4.2.1 on Ubuntu 12.04. The first problem I ran into was that the system just hung up after the login screen, which (after quite some google-research)

xen-unstable, winxp32 very poor performance on AMD FX-8150, I bisected and changeset is 24770:7f79475d3de7
I ran a bisect to find out when Windows XP 32 bit becomes unusably slow. And I found the changeset that caused it. ========== The problem: ========== Windows 8 64 bit and 32 bit run fast and fine in the newest xen versions. Windows XP 32 bit runs unusably slow in anything new that I built from xen-unstable, but runs fast in 4.1.2 and 4.1.3 stable. While it is running slow, "xm top" or

VGA passthrough radeon 4850 as primary card
Hi all I''m trying to enable VGA passthrough in linux domU without success. I want to pass through AMD Radeon HD 4850 - 03:00.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI RV770 [Radeon HD 4850] as a _primary_ VGA for the VM. Nothing is showing up on the monitor that I have connected to graphics card''s HDMI port. I have IOMMU enabled. I searched mailing lists

kernel bug nouveau, total system hang, X crashed
Hi, Using kernel 3.9.4, with openSUSE 12.1 (KDE 4.7.4 I think), I was running fine for a long time with no problems. Today with openSUSE 12.3 (KDE 4.10.3, Xorg 1.13.2, upgraded on Jun. 10), my machine hung completely. I believe the nouveau driver is at fault rather than KDE or X, so chose this list. I think it might have been triggered by the "Clock" ScreenLocker (screen saver). It

VGA/PCI Passthrough of Secondary Graphics Adapter
Aloha! Concisely, I''ve been trying for several days to get VGA/PCI passthrough working. Regarding VGA vs PCI passthrough, I''m not entirely certain of the difference? Does Xen perform a different set of operations when passing through a VGA card versus any PCIe card? I''ve read the wiki and it seems the answer is "yes;" however, when passing through a

Re: Virtual gaming/workstation desktops using KVM VGA passthrough?
GizmoChicken, Read that there's a problem with Nvidia GeForce GTX cards and both Xen and KVM, like it's not on a Nvidia whitelist, I'm a bit concerned. From the ArchLinux thread I've seen some success with Nvidia GeForce GTX cards, this is confusing. The bit I read here was: " That would mean you are stuck with the GTX for that, but Nvidia nerfs their cards to stop

Virtual gaming/workstation desktops using KVM VGA passthrough?
Dear List, Recently I read an article [1] about how to use KVM and VGA passthrough to create multiple GPU accelerated VM's for use in gaming or as virtual workstations: [1] http://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Multiheaded-NVIDIA-Gaming-using-Ubuntu-14-04-KVM-585/ I'm planning on building a KVM workstation to do this using CentOS 7 or Ubuntu 14.04 LTS as the base virtualization host

How vital is having "FLReset+" for VGA Passthru in DomU?
I was reading the Wiki page here: http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/VTd_HowTo don''t know how updated it is, BUT at the top it said: -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- -------------------- _Xen 4.1 xl tools notes _ * Only devices with FLR capabilities are supported. * Passing through a PCI card without FLR capability

PCI/VGA passthrough and function level reset (FLR)
I''m wondering if FLR really must be supported by the PCI card for PCI/VGA passthrough to work or if it will work anyway. I have read in the VTdHowTo that trying to pass through hardware without the FLR feature will result in an error. At the same time I read on a pdf document on the VMWare website (http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/techpaper/vsp_4_vmdirectpath_host.pdf) that:

Xen 4.3 on Ubuntu 13.10?
I''m eager to test Xen 4.3 with Ubuntu 13.10 (saucy). I tried compiling Xen from source, but unfortunately, I didn''t have much luck. Will Xen 4.3 be available in the Ubuntu 13.10 repository any time soon? If not, is it available from any ppa as a .deb? Thanks, GizmoChicken _______________________________________________ Xen-users mailing list Xen-users@lists.xen.org

[PATCH] Improve the current FLR logic
Hi, all, The attached patches try to improve the current FLR logic. The idea is: removing the FLR logic from hypervisor and adding the improved logic in Control Panel. The current FLR logic in hypervisor has some issues: 1) Dstate transition is not guaranteed to properly clear the device state; 2) the current code for PCIe FLR is actually buggy: PCI_EXP_DEVSTA_TRPND doesn''t mean the

LDAP + Samba4(AD) + SSH
Hello, I want my domain users to be able to connect to our linux servers using their AD username through LDAP. I am using nslcd and pam_ldap to do so, but I am having some hard time trying to figure out why the GID is not working properly. # getent passwd Guilherme Guilherme:*:10000:*513*:Guilherme:/home/Guilherme:/bin/bash # getent group|grep 513 # id Guilherme uid=10000(Guilherme) gid=513

Hi, I am authenticating users on our linux servers using nslcd/pam_ldap. Authentication is fine, however, it is not possible for the user to change the password from the server. Is there a way to make it work ? LDAP + Samba4(AD) + SSH
Hey, By "through LDAP" I meant that our linux servers would look for the users using pam_ldap. Anyway, I was able to "fix" this by mapping gidNumber to gidNumber instead of primaryGroupID on nslcd.conf. $ id uid=10000(Guilherme) gid=10001(it) grupos=10001(it) On Fri, Aug 21, 2015 at 4:28 PM, Rowland Penny <rowlandpenny241155 at gmail.com > wrote: > On 21/08/15
