Re: Virtual gaming/workstation desktops using KVM VGA passthrough?
GizmoChicken, Read that there's a problem with Nvidia GeForce GTX cards and both Xen and KVM, like it's not on a Nvidia whitelist, I'm a bit concerned. From the ArchLinux thread I've seen some success with Nvidia GeForce GTX cards, this is confusing. The bit I read here was: " That would mean you are stuck with the GTX for that, but Nvidia nerfs their cards to stop

VGA Passthru - FLR?
Hi, everyone. I''m Guilherme Suzuki (brazillian, by the way) and really interested in xen-vga-passthru. Lately, I bought a brand new Saphire HD 7950 (OC Boost) because I saw in a wiki somewhere that users have been able to passthru these VGA devices to domU (win7, win-xp and so on). But, after I installed it, I executed *lspci -vv* to check if FLR in DevCap was present (which

Re: Virtual gaming/workstation desktops using KVM VGA passthrough?
Hi Alex, The first bit of advice that I was about to give was that you should have a look at a particular thread on the Arch Linux user forum. But as it turns out, the article that you found (which seems really well-written) already mentions that thread, and in fact even links to one of my comments on that thread, namely this comment: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1313007#p1313007

[XCP] XCP 1.6 Upgrade and Functionality Questions
I have a couple of questions regarding XCP: First, there were rumblings that there are issues upgrading XCP (1.5 -> 1.6)? Any further detail on these potential issues, or what needs to be done to get around them? Second, it previous versions of XCP there were tricks that had to be played (documented on the Wiki) to make XenCenter believe that XCP was actually a modern version of XenServer,

Virtual gaming/workstation desktops using KVM VGA passthrough?
Dear List, Recently I read an article [1] about how to use KVM and VGA passthrough to create multiple GPU accelerated VM's for use in gaming or as virtual workstations: [1] http://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/Multiheaded-NVIDIA-Gaming-using-Ubuntu-14-04-KVM-585/ I'm planning on building a KVM workstation to do this using CentOS 7 or Ubuntu 14.04 LTS as the base virtualization host

Xen 4.2 with xcp-xapi - operation not permitted
New build with Ubuntu 13.04 and Xen 4.2. Installed XCP-XAPI as the plan was to use XenCenter to manage the installation. I pretty much followed this guide here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Setting%20up%20Xen%20and%20XAPI%20(XenAPI)%20on%20Ubuntu%20Server%2012.04%20LTS%20and%20Managing%20it%20With%20Citrix%20XenCenter%20or%20OpenXenManager With a few changes for things that have been fixed

VGA-Passthrough: Driver suggestion for Nvidia GT 520
Dear list, currently I have a Debian Wheezy with Kernel 3.6.6 and Xen 4.2 as Dom0 and an Ubuntu 12.04 as a HVM DomU with vga passthrough for my Nvidia GT 520 card working. Hardware is a Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5 with IOMMU and an Athlon II. I used the howto by David Techer to get my card running. Currently I can only use the driver version 275.xx of the nvidia closedsource driver. All newer

XCP: Support for driver domains
Does Xen Cloud Platform (XCP) support the notion of a driver domain? I can assign a VIF to a domain, but it seems that I can only attach that VIF to a network. What I''d like to do is attach the front-end VIF in one domain to a backend running in another domain. The second domain will control the physical interface (via PCI passthrough). This use case is easily supported using Xen +

new with xcp 1.6 - iscsi raw configuration
Hi all, I have experience with XEN, but I just start making tests with XCP. My XEN installation uses iscsi disks in raw mode (i mean using phy:/... for vm definitions where the block device is an iscsi lun managed by the dom0). I''m reading citrix manuals and googling a lot but still i''m not sure about the way to make such a configuration. Any of you has a tutorial for that
