How to use rtc_timeoffset (XL toolkit option) in Libvirt and Xen/libxl hypervisor?
Hello techs, We used XL toolkit for Xen hypervisor for starting Windows hvm VMs and the option rtc_timeoffset worked perfectly with XL. It helped us to set correct Timezone time/offset for Windows HVM VMs from inside virtual_machine xen config. For example: Below option WORKS perfectly with XL toolkit. [root@hw12xen ~]# cat goillltawdlssq.xl.cfg | grep offset rtc_timeoffset = "7200"

Desynchronize clock
I don''t want my dom0 to update the clock in my HVM domU. I''ve already disabled network-based time synchronization inside the HVM. I''ve tried setting /proc/sys/xen/independent_wallclock=1 and then restarting xend, but the guest still gets the correct time. Any ideas on how to accomplish this? 32bit HVM within CentOS5 x86_64+xen3?
Hi *! I have to install a xen virtualization host that will start with 4GB RAM and will maybe grow to 8GB in the future. And there has to be a 32bit winXP domU. Is CentOS5(.1) x86_64 able to run 32bit HVMs or do i have to stick with i386/PAE? /nils.

install errors for libguestfs-1.19.60
I've been using libguestfs-1.18.9 but decided to "upgrade" to 1.19.60. Using Ubuntu 12.04 with the older version installed via source. So I went through the same process with the new version of guestfs sources and got the following errors on 'make install': make[2]: Nothing to be done for `install-exec-am'. make install-data-hook make[3]: Entering directory

Xen HVMs run VERY slowly on SAN box
We are running a 2-node cluster with Debian Squeeze (2.6.32-5-xen-amd64) and Xen 4.0.1 on the dom0 and Ubuntu lucid domUs. We are now using fully virtualized (HVM) vms. In our configuration the dom0 administers to domUs created and run on a SAN box accessed via private network (192.168...). A sample configuration file is pasted below. We have had little or no IO problem with HVMs created and

HVM success story, now on server environment
I had the chance to test out one of the new Sun X2200 M2 servers for a week or so, aiming to check out the status of HVM support on these machines. The machine was a dual-Opteron dual-core, with 8GB RAM and 1 300GB SATA disk. Normally I tend to use Debian on my servers, but due to lack of needed hardware support on Debian x86_64 images, and because I had very few time to run the tests, I used an

[PATCH] xen: fix initialization of wallclock time for PVHVM on migration
The initial values of the wallclock time in the shared info page are set for PVHVM guests when the hypercall page is initialized, since the hypercall page is not reinitialized on resume, the hypervisor wallclock time is not properly set on resume. Fix it by forcing an update of the wallclock values when the shared info page is mapped. Signed-off-by: Roger Pau Monné <roger.pau@citrix.com>
