Guest xfce4 auto login failure
Hi, We have a strange problem here and I hope someone can help. I have a Xubuntu 12.04 host holding a Xubuntu 12.04 guest. They are both configured to auto login at boot and have identical /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf files. The guest has a VNC console. The host boots and logs in fine. C6 and xfce
Hi, folks, So I installed xfce on my Netbook. While I was in Chicago, I worked out how to tell it to bring it up. It came up. As root. With no obvious way to tell it to show a login screen first. Did I miss something? mark

Xfce from minimal install
Dear All, because I have a lot of older machines and laptops (512Mb) I would like to use Xfce. So I installed CentOs 6 from the normal netinstall cd and selected minimal ( just over 200 packages). From there I enabled EPEL repo and did : #yum groupinstall Xfce after that I installed Xorg and the driver for Intel ( it's on a Dell laptop ) after startx I get a get a lot of

lightdm fails to stop & can't change login
I've been using lightdm for about a year now and with all the versions I've tried, Gentoo prints a message about lightdm and xdm failing to stop if I reboot from the lightdm menu or the xfce4 menu. If I issue 'reboot' as root from an xterm within xfce4, lightdm stops fine. I couldn't find anything in the logs, but in which one of syslog-ng's logs should I look? I'm

Yesterday, in an effort to see if a logout-login would clear this up, I discovered that the main screen (console 7) logged out with the usual text trails on the screen, but the login window never

Nicolas, Thank you!? But I am Dyslexic and very mono-linguistic; at least I could read the actual commands, if not all the wonderful comments...
