Convert Trixbox HVM to PVM
Hi list, I recently installed the Trixbox distribution as an HVM and have now converted it to a PVM. Found very few resources on Internet where people had done this conversion so I had very little to compare with. Wanted to ask for comments about the kernel used in the PVM after the conversion. Installing Trixbox and later installing the xenified kernel, gives a kernel of 2.6.18-92..... In my

swapless pvm
What is the best practice in creating PVm domU''s - with or without swap? >From the admin point of view, especially in HA environment it is temptating not to have a seperate swap partition. Could it be performance issue if swapping to swap-file insted of swap-partition? What about pure swapless- no swapfile, no swap-partition? Any expirence out there? regards Longina -- --

FNIC nested PVM
I''m trying to do nested XEN to give some of my colleagues a play area to work in, and it seems to work - but not quite. I can build the nested environment (using OVM, and I have to step back to OVM3.2.2 to allow me to do PCI passthrough), but as soon as I start up a VM with a phys device passed through, the first layer loses all connectivity to the SAN. Setup: * 2 UCS

Looking for suggestions on how to debug pvm/snow proc's
Hi All - I'm running a faily long script that uses rpvm & snowFT to spawn off multiple processes with the 'clusterApplyFT' function. Specifically, what happens is that the head node generates a number of seed clusters that are then spawned off to the pvm cluster (in this case, nodes on a 4 dual-core machine) using clusterApplyFT to apply a function to each seed cluster that

Help on setting up a PVM
I''m going to set up a PVM on xen-3.3.1 debian-amd64. I need advices about the best methods to install a fresh debian on it (i.e. how to choose the kernel for pvm) . I''ve installed xen from sources and only have one xen kernel in /boot which I''m using for dom0; should I use the same kernel for domUs? There is any problem on use vcpus=2; the other vm is an hvm running

SXCE 121 Kernel Panic while installing NetBSD 5.0.1 PVM DomU
Hi all! I am running SXCE 121 on a dual quad-core X2200M2 (64 bit of course). During an installation of a NetBSD 5.0.1 PVM domU, the entire machine crashed with a kernel panic. Here''s what I managed to salvage from the LOM console of the machine: Sep 2 18:55:19 glaurung genunix: /xpvd/xdb@41,51712 (xdb5) offline Sep 2 18:55:19 glaurung genunix: /xpvd/xdb@41,51728 (xdb6) offline

Correct xen domains path
Hi all, Two questions 1. According to http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/InstallingCentOSDomU?highlight=%28xen%29 it would be /srv/xen or even /var/lib/xen/images. ?What is the correct absolute path to put into the xen domains files? 2. Moreover, if you want the domU(s) boot together dom0, you should put the domains files (images) into /etc/xen/auto. ?A simple symlink will be enough in

pygrub cannot find kernel

The installation went through successfully. After installation, however, pygrub can't find a kernel. This is the xen cfg file I'm using: bootloader="/usr/bin/pygrub" name = "testsrv" memory =

Xen Install
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/InstallingCentOSDomU In reading that How To, will using the GUI Configuration Tools create all the files need to run a "DomU". Will I have manual edit any configuration files? Next question is the machine has 256MBs of ram and Dom0 uses about 225MBs of it. Is that a bit much? VmWare Server does not use that much ram. See #top Below....With out running

Dedicated Nvidia PCI passthrough for Linux PVM
Hi, Not trying to be obnoxious on this list. I thought perhaps phrasing the subject line specific will catch some ones eye (hopefully). Would like some help on 2 issues. 1 - I have PCI pass through working for an Nvidia card which is my 2nd graphics adapter and I wish to dedicate it to a particular domU. I had to mod my initrd as follows; mkinitrd -f --preload=pciback

Linux distributions supported by Xen as PVM domUs
Hi: Reading Red Hat's Website and a printed manual of RH184 (Red Hat Virtualization course) I see that RHEL 5 only supports RHEL 4.5 and RHEL 5 as paravirtualized guests. So I asume this is the same situation for CentOS 5, right? What's the dependency between Xen versions for paravirtualized guests? I ask this questions because I got this experiences: 1. Running CentOS 5 as Dom0 - RHEL
