XCP, XCCS, xe, and XVP, random thoughts
Well, that was a lot of alphabet soup acronyms :). I''ve just been thinking about the claim in a prior post that using the xe cli with XCP abnormally increases the XCP server load. The only way I could see this happening is to be running xe from the servers command line. I use xe extensively to do the grunt work of XCCS (Xen Cloud Control System). I don''t see the loading

XCP, xvp VNC console server, file missing?
What is it with me and missing files anyways :). I''ve just picked up the packages for xvp, xvpviewer, and xvpweb to try out on my XCP cloud however I notice the mentioned xvpdiscover package isn''t there, even though it''s mentioned in the page content? Mess up? Not included? Abducted by aliens? Vern -- Vern Burke SwiftWater Telecom http://www.swiftwatertel.com

Re: XCP which management console to use - plus XenServer question
Thanks for all the help... XVP seems quite high on requirements. Like it needs an SMTP server set up. I''m not sure I like that. I found a tool called BixData, it''s proprietary but with a free license for a limited number of managed servers. Being a fully fledged cloud management system, it''s true overkill for me and my 3-4 virtual machines, but at least it seems quite

XCP GUI management
Xen List After planning for a year to move my Xen 3.4 classrooms to XCP I''m now making an effort. With the old system I wrote many lines of bash scripts around the xm command to group and manage my VMs. I used sudo to grant privileges for each student to start, stop, console into, reboot, and wipe their VMs without any interaction from me. Now with XCP I had the hope of moving to the

A problem about pre-build xvpappliance - how to use the xvpweb in it?
Hi: I have imported the pre-build xvpappliance VM on the XCP server. I started the xvpappliance successfully(I have added a XCP pool and xvp service started), after some configuration, I entered the xappliance VM console. But I am still confused, I suppose the xvpappliance VM just like a PC client to manage the whole XCP pool via xvpweb. It is right? But how can I achieve this

Nat + Asterisk + Ser (Far end Nat Traversal)
Hello, I have several * servers behind a SER server (in a local ip range). The SER server is also publicy reachable. On the other site, I have SIP clients that are behind another NAT or in the same NAT range as the * server. Can someone give me some directions/hints etc. on how to make this work. I think I should be using MediaProxy with SER. But do the SIP clients need to register at the SER

NAT traversal packet loss measurement
How can one measure the effect of NAT traversal packet loss? We currently have no solution for NAT traversal for our SIP clients. There is no doubt that packets are getting lost. What is not clear is how much damage this does. On the face of it, everything seems fine. Could this be so? Perhaps we're suffering a degradation in quality or our call setup times could be improved. How can we

Does Asterisk support STUN or TURN? How to configure asterisk NAT traversal?
Hi, All I have asterisk installed behind non-symmetric NAT, so I have NAT traversal issues. How can I use STUN or TURN to register with the other end? Or Asterisk doesn't support it? ipsec nat-traversal
It seems to me that ipsecnat tunnel type is not complete. Latest drafts of ipsec nat-traversal use udp port 4500 for nat-traversal communications. (It''s called port floating). That is needed to get rid of ugly ipsec passthru devices. Now ipsecnat opens port udp/500 from any source port. And I think ipsecnat won''t work at all with gw zone defined? I''m not sure about

NAT Far End Traversal
Hi List, After some research, it seems the only reasonable thing to do in order to get SIP phones behind NAT working reasonably well without fiddling with the DSL router is to have some kind of far end nat traversal mechanism. Is there any way to do this with open source tools? I've seen somewhere that far end nat traversal can be achieved with SER + nathelper does the job... has anybody

Restrict XCP use XenCenter?
Dear all, How to make XCP cannot management by XenCenter? We have an environment about 10 XCP host, and provide about 50 vm for users, We notice that some users want to use XenCenter to connect the XCP host, even they don’t have password, so we want to make XCP cannot use XenCenter and only for console management, is it possible? Sorry for the strange question,

XCP: VM installation in XCP 0.5 is behaving strangely
Hi, all I''m totally new to XCP, so maybe i misunderstood the documentation. I tried to create Debian Squeeze (64-bit) and Ubuntu 10.04 from templates and install them from network installation. For Debian Squeeze (64-bit), I did the followings: 1. First ssh login into XCP host 2. xe vm-install template="Debian Squeeze (64-bit)" new-name-label=lenny-64-netinstall

Understanding NAT Traversal
Quick question re. NAT traversal. I understand how sitting behind a NAT could cause problems for a SIP UA. The SIP UA would create SIP mesages using IP addresses from inside the network (i.e. 192.#.#.# or 10.#.#.#) and these IP addresses are of course unnavigable for the recipient. What I don't get is why don't web browsers suffer the same problem? A web brower behind a NAT sends an

Nat Traversal help!
Hello All, I have a number of X-Lite users in countries where the incumbent Telco will do anything to block VOIP traffic. For some reason neither the X-Lite broadband or dialup clients would register with my server unless we configure them to use the Xten Xtunnels demo server. Once the Client has registered the call quality is great! The problem is the Xtunnels does not support other IP Hard

Regarding mismatch in data rates of speex codec
Hi all, Accoring to the Table.8.1 and Table.8.2 of speex manual (Version 1.2 Beta 2), the data rates supported by speex codec for narrowband are 3.95, 5,95 ,8 ,11 ,15 ,18.2 and 24.6kbps. But when I run the code(downloaded from www.speex.org), I am getting data rates of 4,6,8,11.2,15,2,18.4 and 24.8 kbps. That is, for an input of 20ms frame the number of output bits I am getting are

General Linux VM question regarding Xen support
Hello, all. I''d like to get some feedback on why Linux support for Xen environments is (seemingly) poor, compared to other virtualisation software. I do a lot of testing of different types of VMs; firewalls, SMB servers, etc. and find myself increasingly frustrated that, though most of these systems I test run Linux almost exclusively, the vast majority have no Xen support.

XCP vs XenServer (free edition) or is it XCP mature enough?
Hello, I am a system manager of a datacenter. Is this moment, we about 30-40 xen servers running 2 or 3 domUs each of them. We are now using (standalone) xen over debian lenny. We manage each xen server independently, but we are looking for a central management console. At this moment, I have the doubt about using citrix xenserver (the free edition) or XCP. I didn''t know much
