GRUB boot parameters: dom0_mem
I''ve installed Xen Hypervisor 3.0.3 (CentOS 5.7, i386) inside Virtualbox 4.1.16 (Mageia 1, i686) and have noticed that Dom0 is consuming 85% of the memory allocated to the VM (1GB) so I''d like to reduce this as much as possible in order to make more room for one or two VM''s.
Is there a minimum amount of vRAM that can/should be allocated to Dom0 (using the dom0_mem boot

Nested Virtualization: XCP-1.5 on VirtualBox 4.1.16
1. I''d like to experiment with XCP by creating a nested arrangment - XCP on VirtualBox - but need to know what "version" of Linux to specify when creating the VM.
2. I''m currently using a 32-bit host. (Mageia-1 is/was only available as a 32-bit O/S when I installed it.) Does XCP require a 64-bit architecture?

xm migrate - Error: can't connect: [Errno 111] Connection refused
When I attempt to migrate a VM from one host to another (sles-xen-2 -> sles-xen-1) I get the error message:
> sles-xen-2:~ # xm migrate --live SLES-11-SP2-1 192.168.1.3
> Error: can''t connect: [Errno 111] Connection refused
> ...
What might be the problem? FWIW: I''ve already verified that iptables rules have been cleared and that xend does not have any ports open

HA-OCFS2?
Is it possible to create a highly-available OCFS2 cluster (i.e., A storage cluster that mitigates the single point of failure [SPoF] created by storing an OCFS2 volume on a single LUN)?
The OCFS2 Project Page makes this claim...
> OCFS2 is a general-purpose shared-disk cluster file system for Linux capable of
providing both high performance and high availability.
...but without backing-up

Installing XCP from USB thumb drive
Has anyone experimented with installing XCP from a USB thumb drive? Is it possible? How was the installation media installed to the USB thumb drive (e.g., dd)?

iscsi on xen
I wonder if someone can point me in right directions. I have two dell
servers I setup iscsi so I have four 2 tb hard drives and i had used lvm
to create one big partiton and share it using iscsi. How I go about
assigning sections of iscsi for virtual hard drives . should go about
assigning Should I export the whole 8TB as one iscsi and then use lvm to
create smaller virtual disk. Or should I

ESXi, KVM or Xen?
Which of these would be the recommended virtualization platform for
mainly CentOS guest on CentOS host for running a virtualized mail
server? From what I've read, objectively it seems that VMWare's still
the way to go although I would had like to go with Xen or KVM just as
a matter of subjective preference.
VMWare's offering seems to have the best support and tools, plus

Phoronix Xen vs KVM vs Virtualbox benchmark with Ubuntu 11.10
Hello,
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=ubuntu_1110_xenkvm&num=1
Ubuntu 11.10 with Xen 4.1.1 and Linux 3.0.
Xen seems to be doing very poorly on that benchmark.
If someone has time to repeat that benchmark it would be good..
Comparing the results to those from Stefano from XenSummit 2011 NA there has be something wrong..
the results at XenSummit were pretty much the

HYBRID: SMP without HAP (PV MMU)
Hi,
I have hybrid smp running with autoxlate. However, without autoxlate, I am
running into issues realted to TLB flush. The guest in this case makes
multicalls as part of which cache is flushed (__do_update_va_mapping,
etc..). However, the guest is using VPIDs and it is getting complicated.
I can just xen not do any TLB management and let the guest just do it
after return from the hypercall.

Why pv-on-hvm drivers?
Hi list,
I''ve read about recent efforts to push pv-on-hvm drivers to Linux mainline
and I''m curious to know the cause for this. What''s the advantage over using
pv_ops directly and booting the kernel paravirtualized?
Are there plans to move Linux domUs closer to the KVM way (from an
architectural point of view)?
Hope you can help.

Markus

Will pv-ops dom0-patched kernel be eventually merged into Linus Torvalds'' mainline Linux kernel tree?
After reading the following articles, it doesn''t sound very hopeful for Xen.

Replacing gateway, is it bad idea?
Hi all,
I have plan to replace my Centos5.7 VM with newer version.
The VM works as our network gateway.
I want to ask from your experience, will it be a bad decision? My
concern is that since the Mac Address of the gateway will change, will
it disrupt the network?
How fast the Switches can recognize the new mac? Any other pitfall?
Thanks
Fajar.
