Solarflare SFC9000 direct connection
hi guys I wonder if any of you might be using SFN6122F-R7 SFP+ (SFC9000, same firmware everywhere, Centos 7.5 too. I'm trying poor man's setup to get the servers onto 10GbE network. Setup is such that three Dell R815 are connected to each other, each has one Solarflare(SFP ports) and each Solarflare is set as net-team(both ports on a card are net-team device) with runner in broadcast

disk io in guests causes soft lockups in guests and host processes
Hi, I have a strange phenomenon that I cannot readily explain so I wonder if anyone here can shed a light on this. The host system is a Dell r815 with 64 cores and 256G ram and has centos 6 installed. The five guests are also running centos 6 and are running as a hadoop cluster. The problem is that I see disk-io spikes in the vm's which then cause soft lockups in the guest but I also see

/etc/security/limits.conf : rss
Hello, I run CentOS 5.6 on a Dell PowerEdge R815 with 256 GB of RAM. We use Sun Grid Engine to schedule jobs on this node. I want to limit the memory usage about 150 GB per process. So i use the /etc/security/limits.conf configuration file. I test this configuration with some tools with a lower GB limit (about 2 or 4 GB), and it works ! But, at least one process (oases - a bioinformatics

Two identical hosts, different capabilities and topologies
Hello, I've two twin servers (Dell PowerEdge R815) dedicated to kvm+libvirt and they have the same exact CPU (AMD Opteron(TM) Processor 6272) with the same topology (2 sockets, 16 cores per socket, so a total of 32 CPUs seen by the kernel) but both virsh -r capabilities and virsh nodeinfo say that the two machines are different - but they really are not! - and this prevents live migration

ecryptfs (from centosplus) and libvirt lxc quest on it - quest upon start shoots host in the head
hi guys I have a lxc guest on Dell's R815(AMD Opterons) which I just moved to an ecryptfs mounted folder(using centosplus' kernel C7.5) Copying data to that folder seems to work just fine, but I as soon as I start the quest, the host gets shot in the head almost immediately, hard reboot, no dump. I also have another, virtually identical guest but on Intel platform and that one does

I 'm trying to figure out why my samba box can 't get any information about trusted w2k ad domains. The linux samba server is a domain member of a w2k domain. Everything is fine with this domain, but I can 't get sequence numbers, nor users, nor groups from others domains in the active directory. The main error seems to be "Server not found in kerberos database" when it

domU custom kernel: Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel.
Hello, To compile a custom kernel, I downloaded 2.6.29.1 from kernel.org and followed the tutorial at: http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/Kernel.org_Linux_on_Xen Used a supposedly working .config file for the compilation (generated by my provider to compile his xenU kernels), set /dev/xvd* device nodes both in the domU conf file (disk, root): disk = [

New DomU on older Dom0
Hi, I have a Xen server running OpenSuSE 10.2, with Xen version 3.0.3_11774. It''s happily hosting two DomU''s running the same OS / kernel. Now I tried to create a new DomU running a newer OS - OpenSuSE 11.1. It comes with Xen version 3.3.1_18494_03. Unfortunately for me, it doesn''t work - this is what I get: > xen1:/etc/xen/vm # xm create NEW > Using config file
