[ANNOUNCE] Prebuilt Xen PV-HVM templates.
Hi guys,
I have started preparing a library of PV-HVM templates for use on Xen
4.X+ and PVOPS dom0.
This was brought up late last year as something that would make Xen
alot easier for beginners to try.
They are also great for testing - I will be setting up some stuff to
do automatic testing of distro kernel compatibility against
xen-unstable.

Windows 7 as guest on a physikal disk
Hallo,
I have an installed Windows 7 on one partition
and running Debain Squeeze on the other. Both are 64 bit.
I want to use Xen to run Windows as virtual guest from
a physical disk. Once I get this working the Window will
never be booted directly.
When I try to create the virtual machine by
"xm create -c win.xen"
it hangs.
The versions I use

AW: debian Lenny -> Squeeze domU mdX software raidmigration - failed to assemble arrays
Hi,
to make transitions more convenient, I've done this by using uuid instead of device names.
If you ls -l /dev/disk/by-uuid inside your domU, you'll see something like
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 5. Mai 07:38 39a2a64b-0716-47ad-92f4-a7437cac54ee -> ../../sda2
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 5. Mai 07:38 e8b97b59-a790-417c-8231-fe8da8b6e6ee -> ../../sda1
In /etc/fstab inside the domU,

DRBD, Xen, HVM and live migration
Hi,
I want to combine all the above mentioned technologies.
The Linbit pages warn not to use the drbd: VBD with HVM DomUs.
This page however:
http://publications.jbfavre.org/virtualisation/cluster-xen-corosync-pacemaker-drbd-ocfs2.en
(thank you Jean), simply puts two DRBD devices in dual primary mode and
starts Xen DomUs while pointing to the DRBD devices with phy: in the
DomU config files.

Can't create any VPS using KVM template due to the error with libguestfs
Hi,
I'm using SolusVM control panel to create KVM VPS. Suddenly, I can't make
any VPS on Host-Node. Their build log says the SolusVM can't read the
libguestfs in server.
During the debug, I've tried to mount existing VPS using guestmount command
and I can't mount the KVM image.
Please check here.
[root@msv07 /]# guestmount -i -a /dev/msv07data/kvm139_img /mnt

[patch] Updated patch for pkcs#11 smartcard readers that have a protected PIN path
Some smartcard readers have keypad to enter the PIN securely (i.e. such that it cannot be intercepted by a rogue (ssh) binary.
PKCS#11 allows for enforcing this in hardware. Below patch allows for SSH to make use of this; against head/master as of today.

Supporting smartcard readers with PIN entry keypads
Folks,
Find below a minor patch to allow the use of smartcards in readers that have their own
PIN entry keypads (Secure PIN entry) such as the SPR332 and most german/medical
chipcard devices.
Tested on Solaris, FreeBSD and MacOSX against various cards and drivers.
I?ve left the pkcs11_interactive check in place. Arguably - with some Secure PIN readers
it may be better to move this just in front

Re: Libguestfs Hangs on CentOS 7.4
Thanks for the info. I can confirm doing the following works:
yum install centos-release-qemu-ev
yum install qemu-kvm-ev
libguestfs-test-tool completes in 3 seconds.

Unable to boot installation ISO
Hi,
I build Xen 4.1.1 on a Gentoo base dom0. Everything is working great. I tried one of Joseph Glanville''s PV-HVM image (debian6) and its working as it should.
Now l''im trying to build a Gentoo based domU with then same specs as Joseph''s PV-HVM.
I used a copy of the .cfg and adapted to my needs to make the gentoo work.

hi all,
I have just ported pvonhvm drivers to ubuntu 10.10(2.6.35), for ubuntu 10.10 was comply to the pvops, so it has it''s own blkfront, so I just add platform-pci to ubuntu 10.10 source, and then compile, that''s ok, then I start the ubuntu 10.10 with pvonhvm, the domU can boot successfully, but after running a moment, it give the such warnings:

Re: Libguestfs Hangs on CentOS 7.4
(1) This made no difference. It still hangs around the same place.
(2) It wasn't enabled in the kernel so i enabled it. I then rebooted but
unfortunately it made no difference.
If you want access to a hypervisor to have a play around, let me know.
The only information i really have is that if i installed CentOS 7.3 on
this hypervisor it works fine.
