Dom0 cpu utilisation irregularly distributed
On some production servers with dom0 kernel 2.6.32 pvops and xen 4.0 and
domus mainly windows with gplpv I noticed a strange cpu usage by the dom0
mainly with the use of a single cpu, for example this take from one server:
xm vcpu-list
Name ID VCPU CPU State Time(s) CPU

Big into winbindd ? 100% of cpu after 5mn of utilisation
Hi
anyone know if they have a big bug to winbindd ? :
After 5 mn of utilisation, winbindd use 100% of cpu resource :

quality setting vs cpu utilisation
I only have a 4% cpu utilisation decrease when setting quality to 1
(0.1) against setting quality to 9.
Is this normal ?
Also I don't see any CPU % decrease when lowering bitrates (on managed
modes)
The only things that realy reduce the cpu usage is sample rate and
number of channels.
I am a little used with lame which with a quality setting of 9 (aka 0.1
in vorbis_enc) greatly reduce

Hullo Everybody ;
I am failing to start my new VM and it tells me unkown bootloader . Below

XCP - VM creation from template and netinst
Hi all,
i still have problem.. Some time I am able to install and other not. I tried
this on different machine either in a pool and either in a single
installation of XCP.
These are the steps I use to create a VM:
# set disk size
xe template-param-set uuid=9d8c3be5-f16b-7446-b978-e23551d8a77e

100% CPU utilisation
Dovecot (0.9.11) consumes 100% CPU utilisation when accessing
(either pop or imap) one of my mailboxes. It doesn''t happen
with other mailboxes.
The mailbox has about 500 mails while others have many more.
They are all in mbox format.
OS: OpenBSD-3.5 with all patches
MTA: Sendmail-8.12.11
It happened with other RCs of dovecot-0.9.11
Configured as: ./configure --without-pam

some error messages using arm cpu with Debian
I have a small handheld pc having ARM process as a CPU. I installed debian and installed R using apt-get command. Everything worked great except for drawing even simple graphs
x <- 1:10
plot(x)
I got error messages
1: Nonfinite axis limits [GScale(nan,nan,1, .); log=0]
2: relative range of values = 9.0072e+15 * EPS, is small (axis 1).

Errors attaching VBDs to dom0 VM
Hi,
I''ve been touring XCP and making my way around it for the last few
days, and am having problems with some reasonably straightforward
actions. I''ve poured a several hours into different ways of resolving
the issue, but am coming up short.
Here''s the main issue. The following command (plugging in a VBD to
the dom0 VM), when, run, hangs for several minutes, and then

Multidimensional scaling and distance matrices
Dear All,
I am in the somewhat unfortunate position of having to reproduce the
results previously obtained from (non-metric?) MDS on a "kinship" matrix
using Statistica. A kinship matrix measures affinity between groups, and
has its maximum values on the diagonal.
Apparently, starting with a nxn kinship matrix, all it was needed to do
was to feed it to Statistica flagging that the

Samba 3.0.25b: smbd 99% CPU utilisation with opened MS Word doc
Hi I'm trying to upgrade from Samba 3.0.23c on FC4 to 3.0.25b from Samba
sources.
Everything appears to function correctly until an MS word document is
opened from a share - the file opens but the smbd process in question
rockets to 99%+ CPU, stays there & needs kill -9'ing to stop it. This
happens reliably.
I have an appropriate strace & a level 7 log but can't see anything

I am wondering why the fit of the time serie x with an arima and the fit of
diff(x) with an arma (same coeff p & d) differ one from another
here are the output of R:

dom0 memory limitation not working in Debian sid install of XCP
Hello,
I have installed XCP in Debian following the steps depicted in
http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/XCP_toolstack_on_a_Debian-based_distribution
.
Out of the box, dom0 takes hold of all the available memory, so I
cannot start any domU (I''m using XenCenter). If I try to limit the
dom0 memory using kernel parameter dom0_mem, it is apparently ignored.

LoadAvg , Codec and Bandwidth Utilisation
1) If I see the Loadavg more than 4 , whats the immediate solution to get it
under 1 APART from restarting the server ?
2) I get too much of cross connections.
Can Codec be the culprit ? I use g729. Can using GSM will solve the problem
? What could be the other reasons ?
3) Anyway to measure the bandwidth utilisation from the server ?

CPU enumeration
Hello,
Is it possible to alter how XCP enumerates multi-core cpu’s such that a Vcpu represents a “socket”, rather than a “core”? A server with dual quad core processors, no HT, presents each of the 8 cores as a Vcpu to the guest. Windows Server 2008 R2 see’s each Vcpu as a unique “socket” and we are therefore coming up against licensing issues with Windows and more importantly SQL Server 2008

9.0-RELEASE PV from scratch on XCP v1.1.0

* The Challenge - ParaVirtualized FreeBSD 9.0-RELEASE under XCP 1.1.0
The idea here is to create a PV FreeBSD VM under Xen Cloud Platform
(XCP) without starting with an HVM first. The documentation I''''ve
been able to find on-line is at least a year old and is mostly written

I've also tried 20us. And results shows 50us was better in:
- very small packet tx (e.g 64bytes at most 46% improvement)
- TCP_RR (at most 11% improvement)
But I will test bigger values. In fact, for net itself, we can be
