Kickstart
Does someone have an example mkisofs command with arguments to create
a CD from the files on the CentOS CD?
Since we are building servers, all the data is on CentOS4 CD1. I plan to
modify it to include a kickstart file and remove some of the things on
there that I don't need.
I use something like this on the Cobalt Networks servers, need mods to
work on CentOS. (following on one line)

Predict function for 'newdata' of different dimension in svm
I am using the "predict" function on a support vector machine (svm)
object, and I don't understand why I can't predict on a dataset with more
observations than the training dataset.
I think this problem is a generic "predict" problem, but I'm not sure.
The original svm was fit on 50 observations.

location of sg.c on distro CDs
Hi all,
I find I'm in need of sg.c and can't seem to locate the rpm for the
generic scsi driver on my CentOS5 CD's.
Might someone point me in the right place, please?
Thanks in advance,

how to convert a data.frame to a list of dist objects for individual differences MDS?
I have a 45 x 16 data frame consisting of dissimilarities among 10
colors, giving in each
column the 45 = 10*9/2 pairwise judgments for one of 16 subjects. The
rownames
identify each pair of colors, e.g, "AC" = ("A","C"), and the pairs are
ordered by columns
in the lower triangle of each distance matrix.

Data loss (corruption with rsync)
Hello,
I just rsync'd my 1TB partitions formated with jfs filesystem
containing ~720GB data. I saw -3G difference between source and
destination which made me suspect possible dataloss. Also I had
experienced loss of integrity on my previous copies but I did not find
the cause until now.
As command line I used following:
sh-3.2# rsync --verbose --sparse --append-verify --fuzzy --progress

I run a web hosting company and my secondary (primary to the world) DNS

Jigdo, etc...
Hi folks,
I've just finished rsyncing/downloading/jigdoizing the entire i386/x86_64
CentOS 4.2 distribution.
If anyone is interested go to
http://mirror.tcs.ii.uj.edu.pl/jigdo/
You'll need to edit the .jigdo file by hand to change the server section

CentOS42=file:/opt/mirrors/centos/4.2/
to point to a local mirror (file, http or ftp), ie. to use kernel.org:

SOLVED: Re: Dual boot box: WinXP & CentOS 5: Impossible to restore WinXP?
Some thoughts, for anyone faced with this type of problem on a dual
boot box in the future: My first thought was to try to Rescue the
WinXP Spanish language installation that came on the Dell Dimension
2400, out of the Dell factory. Later, I decided to wipe the entire
drive, since I now have a WinXP English language Restore CD and I
wanted to redo CentOS5, so I would have room to experiment with

kickstart won't kick-off via network
Hello list,
I try to do an automated network installation of centos 5.2, following
the redat documentation at
http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-4-Manual/sysadmin-guide/pt-install-info.html
However, when installing I get promptet for various things, like which
network interface I would like to use for installation, or the location
of the install medium. But thats not what I
