hiera broken in puppet-3
is anybody using hiera with puppet-3 and per-module hierarchy?
it seems calling_module/calling_class is entirely broken now.
see: http://pastebin.com/CfbW5Kcu and #16730 and PR1214 (which only fixes
backend_puppet i think).
anyone has some unofficial patches? because i''m just stuck in migration :(
please don''t advise me to use data bindings as there is no way to use them

Dynamic yum.conf 'exclude' line
Hi All,
I have finally switched to using hiera (worthy goal!) and I am looking for
a flexible way to manage the ''exclude'' line in /etc/yum.conf.
I want to be able to specify from different classes RPMs to be excluded in
/etc/yum.conf, then build the exclude line from all those classes that set
an exclude.
In my hiera hierarchy, I use %{calling_module}, but I actually modify

am still struggling.
Any help would be very appreciated!
Thanks!

Puppet 2.7, hiera 1.0 and hiera as an ENC
This is the situation I have:
All my hosts are the* same OS.*
All my host are in the* same puppet environment,* so I cannot use
%{environment}
I have a module that sets all the *basic* functionality for the OS,
resolution, authentication, security, packages, etc
I have a module for each application hosted.
At the moment all the ''data'' is in Puppet, mostly in parametrised

Two parameterized classes calling both a thirth class (results in already defined)
Hi all,
I have three parameterized classes, named mq, mq_gsk and apache.
The mq class always calls the mq_gsk class, but the apache class
should only call the mq_gsk class when the mq class is not used in a
hosts'' node definition
Here is my configuration
class mq (
$gsk_version = undef ) {
require mq::params
< ..... >
class { ''mq_gsk'':

Using single hiera hash for two create_resources, and mounting filesystems
I am trying to use the same hiera hash to create the mount point and
mounts. (Would be nice if mount could create the mount points using 3.1.1)
My plan was to define create_mount_points and use create_resources with the
same hash, and just though away what I dont use.... maybe there is a
better means?
Here is the mount class:
class fstab::mounts ( $config = undef ) {
$defaults = {

[LLVMdev] LLVM Makefile MODULE_NAME error
Hi,
I am working on compiling vmkit but have run into an error which seems
like something that maybe the llvm community would have a better idea
of how to solve than vmkit's.
The issue is when vmkit is built to compile the MMTk garbage collector
it must use the llvm-gcc compiler, at which point MODULE_NAME is
defined instead of LIBRARYNAME. This results in the following error

[PATCH nbdkit] python: Try harder to print the full traceback on error.
The tracebacks are compressed into a single line because we're using
PyObject_Str, but they are just about usable if not very readable.
For example you would see an error like this:
nbdkit: error: ./python-exception.py: config_complete: error: ['Traceback (most recent call last):\n', ' File "./python-exception.py", line 54, in config_complete\n raise_error1()\n',

hiera command line performance
Hi everyone,
The hiera command line program (version 0.3.0) is currently taking around 2
seconds per invocation. This seems quite slow to me, but is probably not
an issue for most users.
We have a number of legacy machines that for one reason or another have not
been puppetised yet, and probably won''t be anytime soon, so I have a
somewhat clever script that, for each of these

Problems with spaces in filenames in scripts
I've got some (bash) shell scripts which I'm using to call rsync based
on command-line options passed to the script. The problem I'm having is
with spaces in the filenames/paths.
I can do:
---
rsync -rav --modify-window=2 --stats --partial --compress --timeout=30
"localhost::module_name/dir/file with spaces.doc" "/smb/dir/dir with
spaces/"

dynamic mapping in controller
Hi,
I have used scaffold to create my rails project and hence I have a
database containing a table called "results" and when i call the "show"
action followed by the ID it brings up a list of the relative record and
its details.
What I want though is for if someone types in say
localhost/results/etab-mobile that it maps dynamically to
localhost/show/1 but keeps

Staging content from modules for temporary use by resources
Hello,
I would like to find a few to use files available in a module for the
execution of a particular resource, without having to stage the file
explicitly onto the client and possibly having to clean it up afterwards.
(This could also apply to content coming from templates.)
The use-cases I have in mind are: running a SQL file (to set up some
content in a database), extracting an archive

No subject
Hi,
I'm a new R users (although I have a little experience with S+). I am using the latest version (1.4.1) of R on a Windows 2000 system.
I have obtained several of the additional R packages ("modules") and would like to know how to permanently install them. What I am after is something similar to the following in S+
> .First <- function() { module("module_name")

multiple pamameter values in puppet dashboard ENC
Is there a way to use send multiple parameter values using puppet dashboard
ENC?
For example,
nameserver = 10.0.0.1, 10.0.0.2
or perhaps
nameserver = [''10.0.0.1'',''10.0.0.2''}
then the template erb file can loop through each of the nameserver values
to set up mulitple nameservers in resolve.conf?
Thanks - Oli

Plugins and Hiera
Dear all,
This is a continuation of another thread, but I think the question diverged
enough to create a new one.
I have a hiera hierarchy like this:
:hierarchy:
- %{fqdn}
- %{secundary_group}
- %{primary_group}
- %{productname}
- all
And I need to define the secondary/primary groups as facts, on the nodes. Gary
has suggested me to use plugins, that they will provide the facts before
