proper way to mirror apt.puppetlabs.com?
I am wanting to set up a local mirror of apt.puppetlabs.com, and am a
bit confused by the layout as well as the announcement that was made
in this thread:
http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-users/browse_thread/thread/0786824ea9531fe3/f53c9006843ab8dc
I''m not sure exactly what I should be pulling, as rsync://apt.puppetlabs.com/packages/apt
gets everything, but it seems like a bit of a

apt-cacher for CentOS
Hi All,
Is there something similar to apt-cacher available for CentOS? I would
like to ensure that an application is only downloaded once to the
network and not hundreds of times.
If there isn't an equivalent, would someone please point me in the
direction of how I might accomplish this with CentOS?

Something like apt-cacher for CentOS/RHEL?
Hi,
For some time I've fiddled with Debian and Ubuntu LTS. There's one
really nice feature for local networks: apt-cacher, a package proxy for
APT.
My company is in the remote South French countryside, and more often
than not, schools and public libraries only have some very limited
Internet access with relatively low bandwidth, which can make the
updating process very tedious. A

something like apt-cacher for yum
Hello!
I need to download updates and install it on several servers.
I don't want to mirror all packages just because traffic is expensive here.
We use apt-cacher as specialized proxy for our ubuntu desktops, so we
download packages only once.
Is there similar tool for yum?

introducing puppetboard 0.0.1
Hello everyone,
It’s a lovely grey and rainy day here in the Dutch summer, as good a day as
any to release a new little project.
Its name is Puppetboard and has as aim to replace Puppet Dashboard’s
reporting functionality. It does not nor will it include ENC features. It
does all this without storing any data itself but querying PuppetDB instead.
The whole thing is built in Python and

Puppet hangs
Hello,
we have one puppet server managing approx servers, all FreeBSD.
The problem is that the puppet clients all hangs, one by one,
eventually. They will run for anything between an hour up to a week.
But eventually the all hang.
We really like puppet and want to keep using it. But the way it is now
is completely unusable. We''ve tried many versions, from 24.x, and now
2.6.1rc1. But

External CA: Could not run: Could not retrieve certificate for puppetsrv and not running on a valid certificate authority
Hi Experts,
I''m trying to generate my own certificates (all of them, including certs for
CA, server and client) for puppet to use.
and I''m getting "Could not run: Could not retrieve certificate for puppetsrv

Just wondering what the problem could be?
What I did is:

Custom types in environments working .... yes/no/maybe ?
My issue may be related to this bug:

"Custom types in environments require loading into master''s libdir"
However, now I''m not so sure, This was working previously with a given
client. However, after trying on a fresh client, it''s failing with:

Squid +Yum = apt-cacher?
Hi all,
I was wondering if would be possible to configure squid to co ope with yum so
it recognize mirrors and it can cache rpm packages based on package name and
maybe some other parameter to be sure that is the right package.
Any ideas?
Cheers,

Platform Support at {apt,yum}.puppetlabs.com
I mentioned at the end of October that we would soon be removing
Fedora 15, Debian Lenny, and Ubuntu Maverick repos from our apt and
yum repos[1]. That time has arrived. The repos will be removed this
Friday (12/14).

Installation of Hiera from apt.puppetlabs.com
Hi Puppet Users,
According to the installation instructions (https://github.com/puppetlabs/hiera#installation) located in the readme.md file at https://github.com/puppetlabs/hiera there should be an apt package located at apt.puppetlabs.com. I have looked within the repo and cannot find a package.
Is this a documentation error or is there a deb package?
Thanks,
Peter

Changes to apt.puppetlabs.com
Last Friday, with a minimum of hiccups, we moved to using freight
(http://www.github.com/rcrowley/freight) to handle our repository at
apt.puppetlabs.com. One consequence of this move is that the debian
repository links will need to be updated. They should be changed to
the following:
deb http://apt.puppetlabs.com/ $dist main
and
deb-src http://apt.puppetlabs.com/ $dist main

pre-built images
Tru has already been building vmware images (
http://people.centos.org/tru/vmware/ ) for various roles.
I was wondering if there was any interest in prebuilt Xen images as well
? And if so, what would be the roles people would want images done for,
and what might be suiteable package sets to include for those roles.
