Multiple resource definition error
Hi, So, I am writing a module to install and configure ucarp. There is only one module in puppet forge and that is not that good. In ucarp, same configuration files have to be served on two servers and to configure the host I am defining a custom resource ucarp::host::config. So, for using, I''ll have to create this resource two times on two different servers. So, this resource

Hello, just upgraded Hiera from ver. 1.2.1 to 1.3.0 and broke our puppet environment. :) It seems that there are sizeable changes related to variable interpolation Here is an error during Puppet run: Error: Puppet::Parser::AST::Resource failed with error Hiera::InterpolationLoop: Detected in [::environment] at /home/ubuntu/environments/project_dev/manifests/site.pp:35 on node

Manifest organization
Hello I am new to Puppet and am having a hard time relating modules and classes in configuration files to actual operating system files. For instance I saw the following example on this list: node ''somenode'' { include puppetmaster } class puppetmaster { include common include puppet include ldap_auth include iptables::disabled include httpd::ssl include

Puppet Client using wrong environment.
Hi, I exposed few days ago this situation on the IRC, but unfortunately I haven''t found a way to solve it yet. I run the Puppet Master with multiple environments, and everything is working good but a couple of nodes that are causing me some troubles. These nodes are pointing to my production environment and I need to point them back to development to grab some changes I made. I

Setting variables in modules - order important?
Puppeteers, For some reason I have to assign my variable before I include my class for the assignment to ''take''. I though the ordering was immaterial. Am I doing something wrong (again) or is this a funny? ----------------------- This works: <0> sa_dewha@engpsr0000.intranetdev.barcapdev.com (0 jobs)

Multiple environments
So I''m trying to get multiple environments to work with puppet 0.25.1 on ubuntu 8.04 and no matter what I do, puppet just completely ignores any environment setting. There''s really next to no information in terms of configuration on the multiple environments documentation page (http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/UsingMultipleEnvironments) other than saying that the

Issues with environments not being respected
I''ve ran into a strange issue today while using my development environment I was receiving some errors about modules that shouldn''t have been used. After looking it looks like my agent (or master) isn''t respecting the environment I specify and is actually using the main (master) environment. This used to work and I haven''t had any changes beyond a upgrade ..

what are the constraints on the contents of 'imported ' files
I am trying to import a hash definition from a separate file but this fails whereas including the text verbatim in the original manifest works fine: class monitor ($master, $interface) { # import "masters.pp" $sensor_rule_categories = { ''dmzo'' => [scan,finger,ftp,telnet,rpc,rservices,ddos,dns,tftp,web- coldfusion,misc,web-php,x11,attack-responses,

modulepath not working with environments
I''m testing the new environments feature in 0.24.1. http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/UsingMultipleEnvironments But I am having a problem getting it to recognise the modulepath setting within the environment. I''m wondering if this is a bug or if I am doing something wrong For this example, the environments are called "prod" and "test". On the

Re: Error testing deploying Grizzly
I believe the error indicates that hiera was installed as a rubygem which is not supported on Puppet 3.x. Maybe the error will go away if you remove the hiera gems? I think I have gotten around it by adding ''require rubygems'' to the puppet executable. I''m copying the puppet-users mailing list b/c I am guessing this is a common problem. Run Puppet Against Master with Local node.pp Manifest?
Does anyone know if it''s possible to run Puppet as if it''s running with a Master, but using a locally created node.pp manifest? I''m looking into doing some unit tests on applications that are installed by Puppet. To do this, I''m trying to use a test VM server which I''ll deploy applications onto. I figure that the easiest way is probably to
