Hi all,
I have experience using puppet, however I am new to setting puppet up as it

y''all might be able to help me!

client won't use remote file bucket
Hi all,
I''m having a stupid moment getting a remote file bucket working. My
client only file buckets locally, not remotely.
I have this site.pp:

Strange messages on 0.25.4.
Hi all.
I am testing 0.25.4 to upgrade from 0.23.2.
In testing, I found two strange messages on 0.25.4 which I have never
found on 0.24.3.
So could you tell me what these messages mean and how to fix them.

I too have been pushed into Puppet 3.0. Clients and PuppetMaster are now
at 3.0.0. Not sure if this is a version change or syntax error that I am
experiencing. We''ll use ''ntp'' as the example and the "build" host is a VM.
The old way:

Certificate nightmares
I think I really hosed my certificates somehow this morning trying to get
PuppetDB and Puppet talking again -- here''s where I stand.
My Puppet master and PuppetDB are again talking, or at least, aren''t
complaining about communication.
From my puppet master, I can run "puppet agent -t", and it runs just fine.
From any other node on which puppet had been running, I

I''ve gone over the documentation several times now and I can''t figure out how to ''apply'' a manifest to a client.
The client does have a signed certificate but the only thing in the /etc/puppet folder on the client is an ssl directory.
I have a manifest that works fine on the puppet ''master''
I have added the client into

Handling unmanaged resources and their files/configs
We have resources that, from time to time, are selected to be removed
(unmanaged). When it comes to ssh keys, fstab... this leaves a lot
of stuff behind that we don''t want. Is there a simple way to remove
the unmanaged data so we can keep the systems clean.
Thanks.

Managing entries in /etc/group (membership)
I have a requirement to manage membership to groups in /etc/group.
These members do not need to be virtual users. I don''t see a way to
do this through virtual users @group. How are others doing this?

could not retrieve information from environment
Greetings. I am trying to set up a test puppet server in my
environment to evaluate windows clients. On the server side, I am
using puppet 2.7.14 (from the repos). I''m using the 2.7.14 windows 64
bit on the client (windows 2008 R2). I have another puppetmaster
already using "puppet" hostname in DNS (running a very old version of
puppet - can''t upgrade yet for various

I am new to using puppet and having trouble when updating an agent

Usually the updates work, but when there are a lot of files I get this

Deploy puppet via NFS?
In our environ, there are several services that are deployed via an
NFS mount, so that the executables and configs are consistent across
the board.
Is there any reason why this couldn''t be done with Puppet? For
example, each individual system would contain its own /etc/puppet and
rc.d and pid files -- but the primary deployment would come from
NFS.
For that matter, as Enterprise

Odd problem with puppet 3 and module files permissions
We have an odd situation with a puppet 3 installation. It isnt serving out
the module local files.
We understand (Somewhat) about the new auth.conf requirements, and have
filled those out.
So, access to things such as
puppet:///files/etc/somefile.conf
are working fine.
However, attempts to access
puppet:///modulename/somefile.conf
fail, with

Can't seem to get modulepath attribute recognized by puppetmasterd
Warning - Puppet newby here.
I am trying to set up a puppetmaster 3.3.2 and have run into a snag right
out of the box.
I want to add a new directory to modulepath= in /etc/puppet/puppet.conf
So I added the following line in the [main] header
modulepath = /etc/puppet/modules:/opt/our-repo/puppetmaster/modules
And populated new new directory with modules I have written.
I then run

Puppet master can not find file_metadata for my puppet module
Hello,
I am running a puppet master version 2.7.5 on Centos 5.7 and a puppet
agent version 2.7.5. I am simply trying to apply changes to files by
defining a file resource in my manifest. When I execute my puppet
agent to do the installation it complains it can not find the file
meta data.
Here is my manifest.

Changing NFS mount options to read only (ro) does not affect puppet change
I have some NFS directories that get changed to a read-only status
after a period of time. I noticed in puppet, if I change these
values and restart puppet and puppetmaster respectively, it does not
pick up the change in the mount {} directive.
Is there a way around this, or a better way to affect the change.
Thanks.
