How to use puppetlabs java module?
I have installed the puppetlabs java module. I am not clear on how to use it though.  The "Sample Usage:" section of init.pp in the manifests dir is blank... "The Java runtime this module is designed to configure are the RPM''s provided by Oracle and obtained by extracting them from the "bin" installers." ok.  Does this mean I need to download the

Yumrepo''s subscribe ran before package require Yumrepo?
I am trying to set a "subscribe" for a Yumrepo object so that an Exec "yum clean all" is ran immediately after a Yumrepo is changed. With the following setup, I am not seeing the "subscribe" fire off until after Packages that have a require pointing to the Yumrepo["custom"] are attempted to be installed. Is in right to expect that the subscribe on the

Multiple errors on puppet client runs: "A section with name updates already exists"
Hello, I''m currently running Puppet 0.25.5-1 on CentOS 5.5. Everything has been going swimmingly until a couple of weeks ago, when I began receiving errors on one of my nodes. The node in question is also my puppetmaster, but the errors seem client-related. The errors are: err: //yumrepos::centosbase/Yumrepo[addons]: Failed to retrieve current state of resource: A section with name

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
I am not a Mac user, but I do use Linux and I would recommend not running R with sudo unless you are an admin ninja. That defensive practice would render the answer to your question moot. It is possible that your problem may have started with inappropriate use of sudo in configuring java, but configuring Java is not on-topic here. -- Sent from my phone. Please excuse my brevity. R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
Hi Jeff!! I really don?t know if running R CMD javareconf with sudo has posed a problem here, now or in the past. What I know is sometimes it?s the only way to really config it, if I don?t run with sudo, in the end it asks me if I want to overwrite the configuration from root override rw-r--r-- root/admin for /usr/local/Cellar/r/3.4.4/lib/R/etc/Makeconf? (y/n [n]) y override rw-r--r--

R and Java 10 ➜ rJava not able to build
Hi! I?m on macOS 10.13.3 and just installed the new Java 10 using Homebrew Cask. I also have installed R with Homebrew. Everything seems to work fine, however I just get different outputs if I run sudo R CMD javareconf or R CMD javareconf. With sudo I get pointed to Java 9 and without sudo I get pointed to Java 10. I really don?t know why. Without sudo: $ R CMD javareconf

Installing rJava fails on Gentoo (amd64) with Sun JDK - checking JNI data types... error
Installing rJava fails consistently, whether installed via the command line as below, or through "install.packages( 'rJava' )", and whether 0.84 or 0.85 is used, with the message :- "checking JNI data types... configure: error: One or more JNI types differ from the corresponding native type. You may need to use non-standard compiler flags or a different compiler in order to

Java JDK on CentOS 4.4
I did not choose Java when I installed CentOS 4.4 and I want to install a JDK to do Java programming. What is the default Java JDK for CentOS 4.4 ? I see under YumEx very little which looks like a Java JDK. Is there one in the distribution ? Is there a way to get Sun's latest JDK 5 installed safely and successfully on CentOS 4.4, perhaps via an RPM for it tailored to CentOS 4.4, or should

Puppet newbie: using defines
Hi folks, I''m trying to get my feet wet in puppet-land. I''ve successfully installed a puppetmaster and client and managed to get them to do something (the sudo file-permission example as explained in the tutorials). Now I''m trying to do something a bit more complex using defines but nothing seems to happen anymore. Config files involved: ###### site.pp filebucket {

symlink creation using facter, but facter is nil at first run.
Hi all, I''m trying to find a better way to implement this, but I can''t think of. I have a jdk module that requires to create a symlink to whatever version is the one installed. Say I install jdk-6u35, it will create something like /usr/java/jdk_1.6.35. I would like to create a symlink /usr/java/jdk whose target would be /usr/java/jdk_1.6.35. The point here isn''t to ask

yumrepo is missing name attribute in repo files using puppet-0.24.8-4.el5
I''m using puppet-0.24.8-4.el5 on CentOS 5.4. My problem is yumrepo isn''t writing the "name=" field to the repository files which causes yum to complain with the error: Repository ''local-CentOS-5.4-x86_64'' is missing name in configuration, using id I get this behavior on all of my yumrepo definitions. One of them looks like this: yumrepo {

Struggling to define multiple yum/rug repositories
My head hurts from trying to figure this out for the past several hours . . . I want to determine what provider to use based on a fact (thanks for the suse version fact btw) but I ain''t gettin it: What''s wrong? Am I going down the completely wrong path? Is there a better way? # suse-yum.pp case $suse_repo_name { #sled10-i586: {Package{ provider => rug}} sled10-i586:

Suggestion for "how to" section: easy way to install the JDK?
I've read website http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/JavaOnCentOS. I am a total newbie with CentOS, but currently, with update 21 of the Java 6 JDK and CentOS 5.5, the installing the JDK appears to be simpler: 1. Download the latest *rpm.bin jdk (as of today,jdk-6u21-linux-i586-rpm.bin) fromhttp://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/widget/jdk6.jsp 2. chmod +x the downloaded file. 3. su 4. Execute

Resource dependencies
For example, I have a bunch of package resources defined for packages which are contained in the yum repositories defined by the yumrepo resources. If the package is installed first, then it will fail because the repository is not available. I know about "require". But I would prefer not to add a direct dependency on the source repository. Is there an easier way to do this? What

Perils of R_LIBRARY_PATH
The R front end sets (via etc/ldpath) R_LIBRARY_PATH, including R_JAVA_LD_LIBRARY_PATH. Perhaps the later is too obliging, as I've just be caught by it in a way that took me a while to track down. One of my machines has a Sun jdk1.6.0* JDK installed, and as a result we have ${R_JAVA_LD_LIBRARY_PATH=${JAVA_HOME}/lib/amd64/server:${JAVA_HOME}/lib/amd64: ${JAVA_HOME}/../lib/amd64} What I
