New halo for "simple" 2 nodes asynchronous replica (async master-master)
Hi,
is it possible to use the new "halo" feature to create a replica 2 volume
on 2 bricks that are located in 2 different regions (10+ ms latency) so to
be able to write to both nodes from each region without the need to a
synchronous confirmation of the other node?
Does this page includes the most up to date /complete docs about that
feature?

smb.conf different between first DC and replica DC
Under ubuntu 16.04, compiling samba 4.5.1 from source, I've created an
initial DC and a replica DC by following:

https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Joining_a_Samba_DC_to_an_Existing_Active_Directory
For the second one I had to add the extra DNS records as per:

Weird variable dependency issue + different behavior between master/masterless
Hello all,
I know that execution order is not guaranteed within a scope without
explicitly declaring dependencies.
However I''ve always been able to set variables in classes, and expect them
to be used properly in templates that I declare in a File statement in the
same class.
It looks like I came across a problem with this yesterday :
My class contains :
$master_port = 6379

Convert replica 2 to replica 2+1 arbiter
gluster volume add-brick volname replica 3 arbiter 1 brickhost:brickpath/to/new/arbitervol
Yes. The replica 3 looks odd. Somewhere in 3.12 (?) or not until v4 a change in command will happen so it won't count the arbiter as a replica.

Upgrade Gluster 3.7 to 3.12 and add 3rd replica [howto/help]
Hello all fellow GlusterFriends,
I would like you to comment / correct my upgrade procedure steps on replica 2 volume of 3.7.x gluster.
Than I would like to change replica 2 to replica 3 in order to correct quorum issue that Infrastructure currently has.
Infrastructure setup:
- all clients running on same nodes as servers (FUSE mounts)
- under gluster there is ZFS pool running as raidz2 with SSD

Expand replicated bricks to more nodes/change replica count
Hi list
I have set up several volumes on a two-node Gluster setup using
"replica 2" configurations. I would like to add two more nodes to the
trusted pool so that all volumes are replicated on 4 nodes. I wonder
if that can be done online, but after doing some research on this I
didn't find evidence that it's possible to change the replica count
_after_ the volume has been

preferred replica?
Hi - this topic has been discussed before on the list and options to
implement have changed (read-subvolume, consistent-metadata, choose-local,
read-hash-mode, etc all seemingly targeting only reads not writes) a couple
times; is there a recommended option in the current (3.8.x) release to
instruct a client to pick a, and only the, local replica - for whatever

problems creating read-only, 'consumer' dirsrv replica
Hello,
I am trying to deploy an additional read-only replica (aka.
'consumer') in a single-master dirsrv environment.
The master, and the other pre-existing consumer servers, are all
'fedora-ds' running on Fedora 7. I'm trying to add a consumer running
on Centos 5.5. Ultimately, I intend to replace the Fedora ds servers
with Centos dirsrv servers.
I'm trying to deploy

Upgrade Gluster 3.7 to 3.12 and add 3rd replica [howto/help]
Procedure looks good.
Remember to back up Gluster config files before update:
/etc/glusterfs
/var/lib/glusterd
If you are *not* on the latest 3.7.x, you are unlikely to be able to go
back to it because PPA only keeps the latest version of each major branch,
so keep that in mind. With Ubuntu, every time you update, make sure to
download and keep a manual copy of the .Deb files. Otherwise you

Puppet Masterless on Windows
Hi all,
I have been working on a configuration of a Masterless configuration on
Windows. I am able to get individual jobs to run like:
puppet apply <path to my puppet .pp file>
However, I would like to spin up the Vagrant box off a base VM, and have a
puppet manifest file in a location where puppet knows to look and provision
based off that file. The obvious place seems to be

Adding/Removing bricks/changing replica value of a replicated volume (Gluster 3.2.1, OpenSuse 11.3/11.4)
Hi!
Until now, I use Gluster in a 2-server setup (volumes created with
replica 2).
Upgrading the hardware, it would be helpful to extend to volume to
replica 3 to integrate the new machine and adding the respective brick
and to reduce it later back to 2 and removing the respective brick when
the old machine is cancelled and not used anymore.
But it seems that this requires to delete and
