using memorysize fact in manifests
Hi, I want some config depending on memorysize. What I tried was if ($memorysize >= 256 * 1024*1024) { ... } But this fails because $memorysize is a string (and contains a "G") and can''t be compared to an int. Are all facts strings? How do I work with numbers? regards, Andreas -- Andreas Kuntzagk SystemAdministrator MDC Berlin / BIMSB Tel.: +49 30 9406 2997 --

Why is it so hard to make a sane nagios server config?
I''ve tried to achieve my overall goals with several different features of Puppet, but I''ve hit a bit of a wall here. I think it''s time for me to explain what I''m trying to accomplish: I want the enabling of a service in my manifests to configure the monitoring of that service by a nagios server, without needless repetition. Let me explain how my

Puppet + APT, I am lost...
Hi, For the past week, I have been trying to figure out the best way to do package management with Puppet on an Ubuntu system. I have studied many solutons I found on the web, but none of them seem to do exactly what I want. Among other things, I have tried everything that is discussed here: http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-users/browse_thread/thread/af7349171a5821a4/db96b809c97f6006 but

CIDR-matching in puppet manifests?
I have a few settings that change based on the network that a system is in, and I have a heterogeneous collection of networks (a few /24s, some /25s, a /29 and a couple /27s, and hey look a /16 in rfc1918 space and...). So I can''t do simple regex matches on dotted-quad IP notation and expect to get a complete story. What I''d like is something like, I dunno... $nameserver =

Storing BigDecimal in the db
I need to do some precise math, going to 12-14 decimal places, so I''m using BigDecimal. How can I store this in a db? I''m using postgresql 8.1.0, if that matters at all. I found a plugin [1] but it gives me the error "You have a nil object when you didn''t expect it! The error occurred while evaluating nil.each_pair," with no line number. The plugin itself

Comment.all returns array of what?
I have a bad feeling asking this but I did not manage to find an answer myself :/ @comments = Comment.all @comments is an array. I can for example access comment.created_at directly, or I could do: <% @comments.each do |comment| %> <%= debug comment["created_at"] %> <% end %> I expected comment to be a hash, but comment.keys or comment.values fail, as well as an

hash to_yaml in erb template not giving valid yaml
Hi, I want to use a file resource to write a facts.yaml file for Mcollective. For some reason it won''t provide a valid yaml format if I dump my scope to hash and convert to_yaml. file { "/etc/mcollective/facts.yaml" : owner => root, group => root, mode => 400, loglevel => debug, #content => inline_template("<%= scope.to_hash.reject {

variable variables?
Hi everyone, Does Ruby support variable variables like PHP (http://www.php.net/manual/en/language.variables.variable.php)? Or do I have to use eval, like some_hash.each_pair{|key, pair| eval "#{key} = #{value}" } Or is there some other way? I''m actually trying to figure this out in order to use ez_where to create its conditions from a hash, so if this isn''t even

How to remove last comma when iterating through hash in erb template
I need to produce a line in a config file in the format x = "ip1,ip2,ip3" I am using the method below to sort the hash before iterating over it. However, as you can see there will always be a final comma which breaks the app that uses this config file. Does anyone know how I could remove the final comma? ipv4_bind_addresses = "<% routes.sort_by {|key, v| key}.each do |key,

creating new vector
Hi R Users, I don't know how much is difficult my problem and even it is possible to solve in R or not. Given a vector with 2000 observations. I want to creat a new vector from that vector so that new vector be the sum of every 5 observations sequently. That is , each new observation is sum of every 5 sequent observations, from the first observation of previous vector to the end. So

Avoiding SQL Injection in :order?
This thread references: http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/90258#new http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/82349#143790 ActiveRecord''s find() method has built in ways to avoid SQL injection by using the format > :conditions => [ "user_name = ?", user_name] Is there any such system for escaping injection in :order? It seems to only take a string and feed it to the SQL

Mocking to spec a sort_by method
Hello, I have a question regarding the use of Mocha with rSpec to spec one of my methods. My spec contains the following vehical1 = mock() vehical2 = mock() vehical1.stubs(:mph).returns(150) vehical2.stubs(:mph).returns(250) comparer.add_vehical([@vehical1, @vehical2]) comparer.sort_by(:mph) The comparer is an object that has a basic "stack like" functionality, add_vehical is the

I am having a problem with ruby''s sort_by function. I want to sort a list of parent model objects based on the children of the parent models. Normally you might say sortedList = modelList.sort_by { |model| model[''someAttribute''] } What I am tring to do is sortedList = modelList.sort_by{ |model| model.children.find(:first, order=>"price desc" ).price}

qemu-kvm-rhev
I recently ran into some problems using certain oVirt (3.3) features on CentOS 6.4 hosts. The solution was to use the qemu-kvm-rhev version from the EL6 RHEV repository: http://ftp.redhat.com/pub/redhat/linux/enterprise/6Server/en/RHEV/SRPMS/qemu-kvm-rhev-0.12.1.2-2.355.el6_4.9.src.rpm It seems that this tree is not carried/built by CentOS. Are there any plans on the CentOS for carrying these
