Problems with service visibility when use notify
Hi, group! I have such strings on my Freebsd 7.0 + puppet 0.24.8 server: ===================CUT=================== define zabbix_agent_conf($zabbixserverip, $zabbixagenthostname, $zabbixagentip, $startagents="") { file { "/var/tmp/zabbix_agentd.conf": owner => root, group => wheel, mode => 444, backup

Unable to replace a symlink with regular file
I am running Puppet 2.7.x (x varies from 14 to 20 on different machines). I am trying to use Puppet to deploy a new Zabbix agent configuration file. On all machines where the file wasn''t a symlink, the deployment worked. However, every machine where it is a link, Puppet refuses to replace teh link with a regular file or do anything with it. I''ve read the type reference, and

Puppet trying to start service before package is installed
Hi, This one is driving me crazy. Problem is Puppet try to start some services (in this case zabbix-agent) before it is installed. My puppet-master is Debian 5.05 with Puppet 2.6.0 (from squeeze). Target system is FreeBSD 8.1 with Puppet 2.6.1 (from packages-8- stable). When I run puppet manually in debug-mode I get: MASTER: debug: Adding relationship from Package[zabbix-agent] to File[zabbix-

[PATCH v2] daemon: Remove custom Augeas lenses.
v2 of previous patch, which fixes some missing bits. For now I'm going to go with Pino's RHEL 7.1 patch, since it is at least smaller than this. So I'm sending this to the list just to have it archived for later. Rich.

How can I monitor asterisk if all lines are registered etc? I have an asterisk on a remote location and sometime they reporting problems that phone is not ringing, they can not dial out etc. Usually I just restart asterisk and it solves the problem. Is there an application that will email me if case any line looses registration with with asterisk? Or any better solution! -- Joseph

[PATCH v5 0/3] v2v and augeas
Augeas 1.7.0 was released a couple of days ago. By encouraging everyone to upgrade to this we can drop several calls to aug_transform and also our custom copies of two lenses, and a lot of related code. Rich.

Class using if/else w/ multiple if conditions
I created a custom fact that determines what class of server it is based off the first 3 letters of the hostname: tst, qa, stg, prd, dev.... The fact tested fine and shows in the list when running "facter -p". I wanted to use the fact in a class to determine if zabbix-agent should be removed or installed. I want to remove from servers that currently have zabbix installed in groups

[PATCH 0/5] use augeas for /etc/shadow
Hi, currently /etc/shadow is edited manually when needed (i.e. when setting the password for an user), and it is not changed when removing users. Import the upstream shadow.aug (currently in their development serie, but not part of any released version yet), and use it only when the augeas version is less than a potential 1.2.1 (covering also the case when the new version is just 1.3.0). ordering of factor levels in regression changes result
I was surprised to find that just changing the base level of a factor variable changed the number of significant coefficients in the solution. I was surprised at this and want to know how I should choose the order of the factors, if the order affects the result. Here is the small example. It is taken from 'The R Book', Crawley p. 365. [PATCH] daemon: Remove custom Augeas lenses.
Don't carry around Augeas lenses. It is fragile, since if the lens is added to upstream Augeas but the version number has not changed, then Augeas won't parse the target file at all. This specifically causes password adjustments to fail in RHEL 7.1. In future, if we need an Augeas lens, it must be added to Augeas, either upstream or as a downstream patch carried around by distros. ---

[PATCH 0/3] fix setting lvm filter with newer lvm2
Hi, newer lvm2 releases don't have have uncommented "filter" lines, so the current way to edit lvm.conf doesn't work anymore. Instead, switch to augeas (with a "custom" len) for a cleaner and working way to set the lvm filter.
