Exported variable foo...(fu?)
Hi folks,
For the first time since I started playing with puppet I started down the
road of using exported resources This was inspired by my reading all of the
nagios related recipes that went something along the lines of
class nagios {
package {nagios: ensure=> latest }
service {nagios : ensure => running , enable => true}

Install R on Ubuntu with libcurl support
For precise, from which you should really upgrade, you need to look at the
very `help(options)` I pointed you to and select _the external curl or wget_
as the method for `download.file()`.

puppet-module on Debian
"The nice thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from."
-- Andrew S Tannenbaum
Debian does wonky things when you install a gem from "gem install."
Usually this isn''t a problem unless there are executables to consider.
I am running into that very thing with the "puppet-module" script on my
laptop which runs a flavor of Debian.
I thought I

Design, syntax question for passing values from node.pp
Is it possible to define variable at this level. I need to pass the
monit config file name ( sometimes its monitrc sometimes in not ).
Here is what I have.
# /etc/puppet/manifests/nodes.pp
node basenode {
include postgresql
include monit
include wiki
include apace
}
node ''freebeerontuesdays.com'' inherits basenode {

Installing Oracle
This is pretty ugly.
I''m using puppet to install Oracle, ie an exec{} wrapped around:
/u01/oracle_extract/linux.x64_11gR2_database/database/runInstaller
-silent -responseFile /etc/oracle_response.rsp
The problem is that the damn installer backgrounds itself and returns
control to the shell. I tried putting the above command in a script,
followed by a wait command, but that

What is the history of CONFIG_EXT{2,3}_CHECK?
Can anyone tell me the history of CONFIG_EXT{2,3}_CHECK?
There is code for a "check" option for mount if these options are
enabled, but there's no way to enable them.
TIA

how to update solaris packages without keeping local copies
Greetings,
I have a solaris package stored on a puppet server. I''d like
to be able to maintain the package on a client system without
having to also keep a copy of the package file on the client
system. (think lots and lots of packages)
Checksums work okay for noticing changes on the fileserver,
but it seems that I have to keep a local copy of the file as well.
When I rev the package

hppa, powerpcspe: call for klibc/mksh testers
Hi,
no mailing list for powerpcspe? What?s the progress of your
architectures? I don?t see much happening on debian-ports.org,
and taking your architectures off that infrastructure hurts
others (I?ve ?revived? m68k and kept it running on d-p.o which
helps a bit).
Anyway: a new klibc (2.0~rc5-1) has been uploaded, and an mksh
companion version (40.9.20120518-1) depending on it and trying
to use

[PATCH] Fix change of CDROM for block-configure command
Hi All,
We contributed the problem when CD-ROM was changed as follows.
There was especially no comment though we confirmed the correction method.
Therefore, the patch that corrects these problems is contributed.

Interesting permissions issue with nagios_* providers
Hi folks,
I noticed an interesting problem with the nagios_* providers especially in
Debian. Besides writing to the wrong file (I fixed that issue) I''ve
noticed there is a umask issue where the config files end up being owned by
root with perms 0640. This causes nagios to spit milk out of its nose
because it cannot read the configuration files.
I came up with a kludgey solution to the
