Need httpd / apache RPM > 2.2.3 for 5.3
Hey folks, It looks to me like the httpd on CentOS is stuck at 2.2.2 - what's up with that? Even after a yum upgrade. I need 2.2.10 or greater, and would prefer to get it via yum or at very last an RPM if at all possible. But I cannot even find an RPM out there. For some reason both EPEL and Dag Wieers do not even seem to have an httpd RPM for RHEL5 Any idea where to look? Why are we

Re: [tools] Why FC Packages in Centos Repository?
On Mon, 24 Sep 2007, John Lee wrote: > Just curious, but why are there Fedora packages in Centos5 base > repository? (i.e. blahblah.fc6.rpm) Are they compatible with CentOS? That is a very good questions and I personally veel very sad that Red Hat chose to do this. RHEL5 (and CentOS 5) are based on development done on Fedora Core 6. Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 and CentOS 5 extras packages
Hi, In the advent of RHEL5 and CentOS 5, I've been rebuilding the RPMforge packages for EL5. You can find these at the usual location[*]. A few points though: + Not all RPMforge packages are available at this time + If you find a package that you need and isn't there, please do look at the buildlogs and send me instructions on how to fix this specific build. rsync bug with --relative and --delete fixed in CentOS5?
Yohoo! I'm using rsnapshot-1.3.0-1.el5.rf (from DAG) and rsync-2.6.9-1.el5.rf (from CentOS5) together. Rsnapshot now starts every task with the "--relative" switch. Without this switch it will backup all subsequent folders (like /proc and so on) which isn't desired. So I can't omit the "--relative". But there was a bug for rsync prior to 2.6.9 that it won't

CentOS5 pam_mkhomedir
I have a problem creating homedirs on the fly. Since RHEL5 / CentOS5 you have to use pam_oddjob_mkhomedir instead of pam_mkhomedir. Everything is working (the homedir is created) but two things. First on every logon I get the following error message, and I don't know how to fix it: org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name com.redhat.oddjob was not provided by any .service files

Obtaining puppet and facter for RHEL5/Centos5
What''s the correct yum repo to use for installing Puppet & Facter on RHEL5 and Centos5? I used to get them from the dlutter-rhel5 repo but this seems to be massively out of date now - latest version of puppet-server in there is 0.24.5-1.el5 and facter 1.5.4-1.el5. In Epel I see puppet-server 0.24.8-1.el5.1 and facter 1.5.4-1.el5 which is better but isn''t 1.5.4 the version

modern motherboard for centos-5
I'm considering upgrading, and am trying to choose a modern motherboard that nevertheless fully works with Centos5/RHEL5. The use of Centos logo
Hi all, A friend of mine asks me to teach him Linux using RHEL5. But, I insist that rather than using RHEL5, we use Centos5 instead, and he agrees :) So, I'm thinking of giving him a "certificate of attendance" and putting Centos logo on it. May I do that? [CentOS5beta] kernel crash due to a known bug
After a successful installation of CentOS5 beta, I "successfully" crashed the system twice already. This is caused by a known bug in the cifs kernel module. The patch became available in January: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/sfrench/cifs-2.6.git;a=commitdiff;h=8e6f195af0e1f226e9b2e0256af8df46adb9d595 FC5 and FC6 are running the patched kernel but, unfortunately,
