hash to_yaml in erb template not giving valid yaml
Hi,
I want to use a file resource to write a facts.yaml file for
Mcollective. For some reason it won''t provide a valid yaml format if I
dump my scope to hash and convert to_yaml.
file {
"/etc/mcollective/facts.yaml" :
owner => root,
group => root,
mode => 400,
loglevel => debug,
#content => inline_template("<%= scope.to_hash.reject {

Are tildes actually valid in templates or is this a bug?
Hi all,
First off, we''re running Puppet 2.7.6 with Ruby 1.8.7 on CentOS 6.0.
Now, I''m using tildes in a template to prevent newlines from appearing but
ruby/puppet is choking on them.
*/tmp/puppet$ cat test.erb*
Line 1: Line 2 will exist if running on CentOS.
<% if operatingsystem == "CentOS" ~%>
Line 2: Yay, we''re running CentOS.

Unnecessary changes when creating facts.yaml
I have set up puppet to create a facts.yaml file for mcollective using the
following line:
content => inline_template("<%= scope.to_hash.reject { |k,v| k.to_s =~
/(uptime.*|timestamp|.*free|macaddress.*|ipaddress)/ }.to_yaml %>"),
However, it is creating a lot of unnecessary changes by reordering the
facts in the yaml output as you can see in the diff output between to

How to include the Scope(...) in a generated string?
I''d like to include similar information that notice() spits out in a
file I am generating -- basically so that anyone looking at the
generated file (actually a file fragment) could trace it back to the
class that is generating the entry.
Using $name within the file fragment is the closest I am getting to
what I want -- is there anything better?

Invalid char problem
Has the problem with corrupted .rhtmls (invalid characters) been solved
so far?
I would like to use ferret and acts_as_ferret on Windows XP. I have
installed 0.10.9 (mswin32) which still seems to have the problem.
I am receiving error messages like:

Help, Gruff is killing me
Hi all,
I hope somebody can help me out here, since the issue has been killing
me for the last three days. Here is the issue:
It seems that gruff kills rails/webrick whenever it''s used on win32. I
installed gruff per instructions and it seems to be working. The
sample controller generates a nice grpah with send_data and all. The
issue started once I try to use any other

Exclude a resource from reports
A little while back I asked how to make puppet not report on a
resource.. and was shown the loglevel metaparam:
Quoting bellman@nsc.liu.se:
There is a metaparameter called ''loglevel''. If you set that
to something lower than "notice" (i.e. either "info" or "debug"),
then Puppet won''t report that it applied the resource...
So I made my

Illegal char \002? Need to restart Rails to see changes?
Hi all,
I''m developing an app on a home Windows computer and using
SVN/Capistrano to deploy to a Linux server. I''m encountering some
bizarre behavior that I think has something to do with Linux and Windows
text file types, but I''m not sure.

Arrays from templates
Hi,
I am having an issue trying to use the inline_template function to
return an array. This is what I do:
$array = inline_template ("<%= a=[''a1'',''b2'',''c3'']; a %>")
notify {"array: ${array}":}
And that works, showing the typical comma-less string:
notice: /Stage[main]//Notify[array: a1b2c3]/message: defined

File selection for template() similar to source
I want to be able to have Puppet determine which file to use as the
source of a template() call in a manner similar to the source
parameter.
Basically, I want to have a file resource that will use the most
appropriate file for a template. While I can do:
file { "file.conf" :
source => [ "puppet:///module/file.conf.${hostname}",

puppet dashboard and complex data
So I am messing around with puppet dashboard and for the most part for
what I am working on it fits the bill for an ENC. The only question I
have is I need to pass information about a customer to set up
resources and the system can have multiple customers on it. What is
the best way to handle complex data? Would I be able to pass json data
for example?

I am new to Ruby ERB and inline_template. Can anyone spot what''s wrong
with this inline_template?
