declare and include classes
Hi all, after moving to parametrized classes, I''ve started to declare them instead of including. Now, I''m trying to understand the differences (internal) between declare and include, and, reading http://docs.puppetlabs.com/guides/parameterized_classes.html again, I found some sentence which confuses me: "Since include wasn’t designed for use with parameterized

puppet + mongrel + host_cert/key owner
Hi all, following http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/UsingMongrel it says that hostkey/cert must be owned by puppet:puppet. I tried to keep original path (and also owner) of both files and seems to puppet still works... what problems could it cause to my conf? # grep lib mongrel.conf SSLCertificateFile /var/lib/puppet/ssl/certs/gridinstall.pic.es.pem SSLCertificateKeyFile

managing java with puppet (RH)
Hi all, In my systems (SL 6.3, RH like) I''m installing Oracle''s Java. err: Connection timeout calling puppetmaster.getconfig: execution expired
Hi all, My current conf splits 188 clients execution in one hour, and puppet runs as a cron job. My server (2cpu 2 GB RAM) runs with mongrel (with 8 puppetmasterd) and this conf works fine. We''d like puppet to run clients all at same time (force a change, i.e.), so we''re testing several things. (Previous conf do not support massive execution). First and most important, is

zlib+shlib issue with the official EL4 R binary
Hi, I have got a curious issue with an R package which uses zlib, against the official binary here: http://cran.r-project.org/bin/linux/redhat/el4/i386/R-2.4.1-1.rh4AS.i386.rpm on a Redhat EL4 i686 system. The problem is that at the end of reading a gzip'ed file within my C code, gzgetc() returns -1 (no more to read or error) but gzeof() doesn't return true. Now one can probably jump to

EL4 and spamassassin info
greetings, have been google foo for week or so. used to be super easy to upgrade spamassassin on CentOS dist. just grab the tarball and put in right spot and rpmbuild -tb spamassassin-3.somethingsomething.tar.gz then rpm or yum install and done would take just a few minutes. Yet... in regards to EL4 / CentOS 4 and spamassassin, it appears the end of the road for .spec in SA tarball

TinyCA2 on rpmforge EL4 but not EL5
I want to install TinyCA2 on my Centos5 setup. I had a real learning experience the last time around (last year, July) and in the end, I got the repo down from Dag's site and was cool. Now I am on Centos 5 and no TinyCA2. Can I just download the EL4 rpm from: http://apt.sw.be/redhat/el4/en/i386/dag/repodata/repoview/tinyca2-0-0.7.5-2.el4.rf.html and do a yum localinstall ? Or do I have
