A VPN is switched mode
Hi all, I have been using tinc successfully for a while now. However, I need to do something different from my normal setup, and i am getting the feeling I am doing something obvious wrong. What I want to do is hookup 5 distant linux routers into one bigger network, Since I need to transmit both unicast and multicast traffic, the VPN network has to be in "Mode = switch" [Assumption

Missing inet.h and netdb.h for SCO
I tried to compile Samba 2.0 beta with cc under SCO 3.2. I seem to be missing the inet.h and netdb.h include files. Does anyone know if they are publicly available? Killing an open file doesnt work? (i dont know how to..!)
Hi all, since we updated to to 2.2.2 (or .3??) we have a big problem. Sometimes we need to 'kill' a locked file. That means, a user left his w2k terminal, locked it and forgott to close file.xls or file.doc. In the past we just did: smbstatus | grep "file.xls" kill -9 <PID> and the file was unlocked, so anybody could access it again. Since the update (version we use

SVN vs DVCS
Hi, Just wondering whether anyone had thought about moving the R sources to a "distributed" version control system such as Bazaar, Git or Mercurial. These new generation systems make it easier to work on feature branches, allow working offline, are very fast, etc. Some projects that have moved to Git are Linux Kernel Perl Ruby on Rails ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Git_(software)

Logging file access
Hello everyone. I have a Samba-Server and want to know who creates or deletes files in a Samba-Connection. Is it possible to log this information? The log-files I have only contain information about opening and closing files. I would also prefer to log the IP-addresses instead of the Samba-usernames, when files are opened, closed, created or deleted. Is this possible? Thanks for your help,

bug in aggregate.ts
Hi, I am getting unexpected behaviour from aggregate.ts(). The 'ndeltat' argument is effectively being reduced by 1 in some cases, even when it is an integer, with the result that the blocks to be aggregated are not of the expected size, and also that the end() of the aggregated series is much later than the end() of the original series. rawts <- ts(rep(1:10, each = 5), start = 1) ##

In regards to the Linux ''Bliss'' Virus.
While I realize that the bliss virus looks more like a research project than a malicious virus, the reality is that it is out there. Because I was concerned that some programs on my linux systems might have become infected, I wrote a tool to determine which programs, if any, had been infected by the bliss virus. For those who lack md5 checksums of all their binaries, this is likely to be a

Moaning dog...
Here's one for you phone people.... An elderly lady phoned her telephone company to report that her telephone failed to ring when her friends called - and that on the few occasions when it did ring, her pet dog always moaned right before the phone rang. The telephone repairman proceeded to the scene, curious to see this psychic dog or senile elderly lady. He climbed a nearby telephone pole,
