Define -> Class dependencies not respected
Hello, I''m encountering an issue which I think is a bug, but I want to propose it here before filing it for good @puppetlabs, and be sure it''s not just a misunderstanding. Actually, I often use a construction where a "main" class would include some small others that build a complete service (install, config, service ) Relationship are given (and respected) in the main

rc.d/sysctl fails to parse sysctl.conf
Hello, I tried to get my sound working, and long story short: rc.d/sysctl parses sysctl.conf wrongly if there are sysctls of the form mib=val1=val2 which is what you need for sound. For reference I needed/wanted dev.hdaa.4.nid25_config=as=1,seq=15 dev.hdaa.4.nid31_config=as=1 I believe the following patch would address the incorrect parsing: --- /etc/rc.d/sysctl.old 2013-02-27

allow_duplicate_certs = true not working?
I saw this feature became available in 2.7.0rc1 and wanted to try it out. I entered ''allow_duplicate_certs = true'' on both my master and agent systems in the puppet.conf (not sure if its need in both, saw it in genconf for puppetd and puppetmasterd though ...). I also have autosign.conf configured to allow autosigning for our domain (*.domain.com). I had my agent register with

dynamic drop downs for product search
Hey Everyone, I''m about to embark on having a search function for the products on my app via dynamic dropdowns. A dropdown for make would only leave AVAILABLE models of that make. selecting year would only leave available makes from that year etc etc. Any suggestions or good read ups ? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby on Rails:

using memorysize fact in manifests
Hi, I want some config depending on memorysize. What I tried was if ($memorysize >= 256 * 1024*1024) { ... } But this fails because $memorysize is a string (and contains a "G") and can''t be compared to an int. Are all facts strings? How do I work with numbers? regards, Andreas -- Andreas Kuntzagk SystemAdministrator MDC Berlin / BIMSB Tel.: +49 30 9406 2997 --

symlink noop error
Hi All I have a bit of a strange one, and am not sure I''m doing this right. This is with 2.6.4 on Solaris 10 We want to create a sym link from a source file that is created by a package. If the package isn''t installed, puppet in noop is registering an error (big red in the dashboard) because it cannot stat the source file of the link. root@warbjohn# cat /tmp/symlink2.pp

Variable named "memory" in templates
I tried to use a Puppet variable named "$memory" and access it from a template, like this: $memory = 4711 file { "/tmp/test.txt": content => inline_template("memory = <%= memory %>\n"); } One would think that my file would contain "memory = 4711" after that, but instead the memory variable seems to hold a

Moving from Puppet 0.25 to Puppet 2.6+ : global scope/variables
Hi, I worked with puppet (< 0.25) back in 2008/2009. We were able to deploy 200 servers from scratch and manage them. It worked fine. I''m now with a new customer and I''m pushing Puppet (and I''m also back to puppet on a side project). We''re considering Puppet 2.6 to manage RHEL/CentOS 5 or 6 hosts. I''m "upgrading myself" to Puppet

ssh_authorized_key loops when options is defined
Hi all, I have no problem with creating ssh keys for users, but as soon as I specify ''options'', puppet keeps repeating and replacing the key with an identical key. I have written the various options in various formats, like one big strings, as an array, with double quotes or single quotes, etc, etc (see examples below), but the issue stays as a string ... @authorizedkey {

Misterious hang
Hi all, Recently one my Centos 5.7 VM just crashes at least once a day randomly (hang). In /var/log/messages there is nothing at all that there is problem (no error, no failure). The log just stops. The only change I did before this crashes is I activated LDAP authentication, and also auditd. But I don't see any evidence relating to it. Any clue where to look for the cause? Thank you.

RubyGems runtime memory use in Rails apps...
This an open plea for someone with knowledge of RubyGems to explain why RubyGems stays in memory (over 10MB) after a Rails application is loaded. I am unable to figure out why this would be necessary. I haven''t had any response from Jim or Chad from RubyGems about it so I thought I would throw it open to the list to see if anyone could educate me or share thier experiences with this.
