[PATCH server] Updated look and feel for empty grid views
When empty grids are shown (ex: no VMs in this pool) a specific graphic, message and improved action button are shown. For Task views, the user will see the current filter and an explanation that no tasks match that filter.

Naming a random effect in lmer
Dear guRus:
I am using lmer for a mixed model that includes a random intercept for a
set of effects that have the same distribution, Normal(0, sig2b). This set
of effects is of variable size, so I am using an as.formula statement to
create the formula for lmer. For example, if the set of random effects has
dimension 8, then the lmer call is:

Frustration to get help R users group
Dear R users/developers
I requested help to solve the problem of formulating Multivariate Sample
selection model by using Full Information Maximum Likelihood
(FIML)estimation method. I could not get any response. I formulated the
following code of FIML to analyse univariate sample selection problem.
Would you please advise me where is my problem

Full Information Maximum Likelihood estimation method for multivariate sample selection problem
Dear R experts/ users
Full Information Maximum Likelihood (FIML) estimation approach is
considered robust over Seemingly Unrelated Regression (SUR) approach
for analysing data of multivariate sample selection problem. The zero
cases in my dependent variables are resulted from three sources:
Irreverent options, not choosing due to negative utility and not used
in the reported time. FIML can

In regards to the Linux ''Bliss'' Virus.
While I realize that the bliss virus looks more like a research project
than a malicious virus, the reality is that it is out there. Because
I was concerned that some programs on my linux systems might have become
infected, I wrote a tool to determine which programs, if any, had
been infected by the bliss virus. For those who lack md5 checksums
of all their binaries, this is likely to be a

New package: hbim - Hill/Bliss Independence Model for Multicomponent Vaccines
Hi all,
I have just uploaded the hbim package. This package does calculations related to the Hill/Bliss independence model as applied to mulitcomponent vaccines. Specifically, the package caculates expected relative risk and proportion protected assuming normally distributed log10 transformed antibody dose for a several component vaccine. It uses Hill models for each component which are combined

instead of nvi - test program
[Sorry, it seems that I overlooked this message -- alex]
Hi,
Since nvi is hard to come by, here is a little program to mimic the behavior
of nvi on any file you care to try...
usage: locklogin file_to_lock
It first tries POSIX locking and then does BSD flavor. It seems that it is
BSD after all that is causing the trouble...
Best wishes

: newbie estimating survival curve w/ survfit for coxph
I am wondering how to estimate the survival curve for a particular case(s)
given a coxph model
using this example code:
#fit a cox proportional hazards model and plot the

fit <- coxph(
Surv(futime,fustat)~resid.ds+strata(rx)+ecog.ps+age,data=ovarian[1:23,])
z <- survfit(fit,newdata=ovarian[24:26,],individual=F)

time-varying parameters kalman filter estimation problem using FKF package
Dear R users,
I am trying to carry out MLE of the time-varying CAPM using the FKF package.
My approach so far has been to try and adapt the example given in the help
file found using ?fkf which demonstrates the MLE of an ARMA(2,1) model.
When I attempt to run my R code (given below) I get the following error:
Error in fkf(a0 = sp$a0, P0 = sp$P0, dt = sp$dt, ct = sp$ct, Tt = sp$Tt, :

brewing stats
I guess this isn't so much of a help request as a show-and-tell from a
non-statistician homebrewer who has been fumbling around with R. If
nothing else it provides yet another data set. I hope it is not out of
line.
Anyway, the plots I have produced are at

The polling method is somewhat simple, its just one of those multiple

Modifying a list: what gets copied?
Hi all,
In my continued effort to understand when and what R copies, I've
designed a small experiment to try and figure out what goes on when a
list gets copied - is it a shallow copy or a deep copy. I believe the
following experiment isolates the difference:
options(digits = 2)
powers <- 4:6
n <- setNames(10 ^ powers, paste0("e", powers))
xs <- lapply(n, seq_len)

changing from zap to DAHDI
I am changing a system from zap to DAHDI.
I removed everything zap. when doing the command:
sh -x /etc/init.d/dahdi start, I see
initlog -q -c 'modprobe wct4xxp'
sh: /sbin/ztcfg: No such file or directory
FATAL: Error running install command for wct4xxp
doing updatedb then,
locate zap returns me
