DTMF integration pana d500
Yes and No
The D500 is a terrible thing
First problem: it sends some horrible DTMF, so if your voicemail is
configured to send #H and *H, it will not work, configure it to send
numbers, like 8H and 9H (H is a placeholder for the extension).
I also managed to use the MWI (message light), it's a perl script that
is in voip-info.org, but with a little correction because the wiki
distorted it.

acts_as_tree with Modified Preorder Traversal?
Has anyone extended Rails''s acts_as_tree to use the Modified Preorder
Traversal algorithm? This is a really clever trick for optimizing
access to trees stored in databases, as described lucidly in this
article:
http://www.sitepoint.com/article/hierarchical-data-database/2
It adds two integer fields, a "left counter" and "right counter", to
each row. By

Grid.GetTextExtent
Wow. Look what SWIG does to GetTextExtent in Grid.cpp:
void SwigDirector_wxGrid::GetTextExtent(wxString const &string, int *x,
int *y, int *descent, int *externalLeading, wxFont const *font) const {
...
if (swig_get_up()) {
wxWindow::GetTextExtent(string,x,y,descent,externalLeading,font);
return;
}
obj0 = rb_str_new2((const char *)(&string)->mb_str());

Swig generates bad interface to GetTextExtent
Swig''s bad interface generation strikes again. get_text_extent called
with 1 argument maps to WindowDC''s _wrap_wxWindowDC_GetTextExtent__SWIG_0
Since this generates a wxFont that''s not initialized to nil it fails
when calling into wxWindows. Anyone have a suggestion?

Package sgd
A web search on "gradient descent R" also brought up a bunch of stuff. Is
any of this what you want?
Cheers,

new to puppet - can puppet push its content to remote servers?
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi,
I was made aware of puppet a few weeks ago and I really like the way
things are working.
What I liked at cfengine was the capability to push content from the
central server to any node. There was no need to open a port from DMZ or
any other remote system to the central server.
Is there a similar way within puppet?
How is this solved by other

Puppet client won't autostart
I''m getting this problem on all the puppet client''s I''ve been setting up
and it''s got me both scratching my head (because I''m not seeing anything
obvious in any system logs) and pausing in my rollout until I get it solved:

Questions on implementing logistic regression
Hi there,
I am trying to write a tool which involves implementing logistic
regression. With the batch gradient descent method, the convergence is
guaranteed as it is a convex problem. However, I find that with the
stochastic gradient decent method, it typically converges to some random
points (i.e., not very close to the minimum point resulted from the batch
method). I have tried different ways

Running ENC alongside site.pp (node defn)
Hello,
Is it possible to configure an ENC to provide class definition to a number
of nodes at the same time where a few other nodes are controlled in the
site.pp by node ''FQDN'' {blah} for the same puppetmaster ?
I am wondering once parameters are set for the master to look for an ENC
based definitions, will it conflict with the site.pp node definitions ?
For example these

use regex to ensure multiple directories are absent or exist
Is it possible to use regex to ensure directories are deleted.....
I want to be able to do something like:
file { ''/var/directory[1-9]'':
ensure => absent,
}
Would also be nice to use regex to ensure directories are present...

Dependency cycles, please help.
Hi,
I''m having trouble writing a recipe to handle apache/passenger.
First, here is my apache2 class, found here :

Has anyone seen this come up, I am using 0.24.8 version of puppet. I
followed the directions on the wiki and installed passenger correctly from

Convergence problem in gam(mgcv)
Dear all,
I'm trying to fit a pure additive model of the following formula :
fit <- gam(y~x1+te(x2, x3, bs="cr"))
,with the smoothing parameter estimation method "magic"(default).
Regarding this, I have two questions :
Question 1 :
In some cases the value of "mgcv.conv$fully.converged" becomes
"FALSE", which tells me that the method stopped with a

I have a freshly installed and updated CentOS 5.4 system running

MDS with missing data?
Hello
I will be applying MDS (actually Isomap) to make a
psychological
"concept map" of the similarities between N concepts.
I would like to scale to a large number of concepts,
however, the
resulting N*(N-1) pairwise similarities is prohibitive
for a user survey.
I'm thinking of giving people random subsets of the
pairwise
similarities.
Does anyone have recommendations for this
