[Xen-API] CloudLinux on Xen
Hello List, I am testing a XCP1 CentOS 5 paravirt vm with CloudLinux. http://cloudlinux.com/ CloudLinux is a great product for shared hosting and I was evaluation same on a paravirt guest. I found a strange thing in XCP. CloudLinux provides xen kernel for DomUs and after installing the CloudLinux in a DomU it actually got 32 cpus inside. I had assigned only 2 vCPU to that DomU. WEBrick, Passenger or Mongrel
Hi, My organization is going to set up puppet soon. We have thousands servers and desktops. Would WEBrick work well for this? Or should we use Passenger? OpenStack Grizzly on CentOS-6.4
Hello, setting up the newest OpenStack Grizzly release seems to be really straight-forward. Red Hat has put together all support for this at http://openstack.redhat.com/. I've documented installation, post-install config tweaks, how to add a few ready-to-use guest images and links to a few gotchas on the following wiki page: http://jur-linux.org/testwiki/index.php/CloudLinux/OpenStack

Facter infinite looping on custom facts
Hi All Background: I am running Puppet to configure ESX 3.5 servers by NFS mounting the Puppet binaries and configuration from a shared server. This is to ensure VMware don''t come back refusing support for installing non standard software on the server. # ruby -v ruby 1.8.7 (2009-04-08 patchlevel 160) [i686-linux] # facter -v 1.5.5

uninitialized constant Facter::IPAddress (NameError)
I just started getting this error on some machines after a yum update from centos 5.2 to centos 5.3. Does anyone know what it means? Since I''m not a ruby person, I''m not sure how to debug this, but it looks to me like facter is having trouble parsing information about my interfaces. # facter /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/facter/ipmess.rb:19: uninitialized constant

Custom facts for a puppetmasterless environment
I see the instructions for creating custom facter recipes here: http://projects.reductivelabs.com/projects/puppet/wiki/Adding_Facts and in this thread, James Turnbull suggests that Facter might some day support other languages besides ruby: http://groups.google.com/group/puppet-users/browse_thread/thread/8c127ae8898d3bcf/c5ca551b77c4eb67?lnk=gst&q=facter+perl#c5ca551b77c4eb67 He writes:

SLES11: facter without arguments produces Error: uninitialized constant Facter::IPAddress
Hi, I run into problems with the ipaddress fact using the latest Facter gem (1.6.4, 1.6.5) on SLES11. The versions and gems I use work perfectly fine on SLES10 SP3. The problem: running "facter" without arguments results in an error, even though the erroring fact "ipaddress" is ok. test:~ # cat /etc/SuSE-release SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 (x86_64) VERSION = 11 PATCHLEVEL

facter lsbdistid returns no result
Hi all, I am creating a recipe for rhel boxes which needs to determine what type of install is present (server or client). I thought I would use the facter fact lsbdistid for this purpose but when I run "facter lsbdistid" from the command line nothing is returned. If I just run facter and grep for lsbdistid, what I am looking for is returned. Does anyone know why this might be?

Plugin dependencies
Hi, I''m attempting to move from 0.24.x to 2.6.x :) trying to fix all those parts that have changed, and found that the use of plugins we are doing is probably not the best approach hoping you can help me with comments regarding this use case. In our working 0.24.x environment we had to make use of plugins to add an attribute in the package.rb, something like: *newparam(:ignoredeps)*
