Review: Asterisk at CeBIT 2005 / Asterisk at Linux-Tag 2005
For all who are interested: A quick review of CeBIT 2005. :-)
CeBIT was a very successfull event. Most of the time, the asterisk-booth was
crowded with more people than we could talk to.
We had with us a demo-installation including different IP-phones, digital and
analog phones as well as a Siemens HiPATH PBX to which our Asterisk-server
served as a VoIP-gateway, and many people were impressed

CentOs4.3
How can I efficiently search for programs and packages that are
available as part of the CentOs4.3 distribution?
I am using CentOs4.3 and need to install packages that are apparently
not part of this distribution. What RedHat version do I have to consider
if I want to use rpm's for RedHat instead?

SVG output on Windows OS
How may one save a graphic as svg on Windows? The svg() command is
recognized and functions well on Linux, etc., but not on Windows, it seems.
I'm trying to use Hadley Wickam's ggplot2 and I would like to be able to
save created charts as svg for later input into Illustrator. I am able to
accomplish this workflow under Linux, but I don't know how to get R to
recognize the svg() command

Passing Multiple Variable Into SQLDF Statement as parameters of function
Hey guys,
So I'm working with a project where I manage a database within R, and I'm
developing a script/function that will automatically run my queries in R
depending on the date parameters passed in.
The problem is that when I create variables for the dates, and use those
variables in my sqldf statements, R says that there is no such column in the
dataframe (which is true!). My question

libMrm.so.3
I need to install libMrm.so.3 on my computer that has Centos4.3.
However, I am not experienced with Centos4.3 so far. I do not know where
to find this library for Centos4.3 and how to install it. Is there
something like apt? Using system-config-packages I cannot find any
intelligent way to search for programs and package.

Sum(..) in apply()
Dear,
I have a set of ascii-grids. For each gridcell I want to count all values
that lie between 15 and 6.
Therefore I combined the ascii-grids in an array and used
result<- apply(temp,2,sum((temp <=15)&(temp > 6)), na.rm=TRUE)
But, this doesn`t work. It seems that the combination apply with sum(...) is
not working, since the pure
apply(object,2,sum) does work.
May you help me

cross compling openssh-3.5p1 for ppc
Greetings:
------------ BACKGROUND --------------------------
I am using the Monta Vista development kit on an Intel RedHat Linux
platform... the target is PPC_405.
The configure utility that comes with the openssh-3.5p1 code will not
support cross compilation. It gives an error message about not being able
to test its results and then exits before it creates a Makefile. To get
around this

Unknown dict module: db
Using dovecot-1.1beta1 I get "Unknown dict module: db"
when starting up dovecot. In dovecot.conf I've got the
"expire_dict = db:/var/lib/dovecot/expire.db" statement
in the plugin{} section. Aparently required when the
"expire" plugin is enabled. dovecot is built with
"--with-db" and db-devel is present at compile time.
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers

ADS on Solaris
Hi all,
I see that the premade binaries for Samba on Solaris, even recent
versions, have ADS support not compiled in. I see more ad domains than
nt4 domains these days, so I am going to compile it myself with ads on.
I want to ask the experienced if there are any gotchas with ads Samba on
Solaris, or something about Solaris that makes ads Samba support
difficult. Thanks

[PATCH v2 0/3] library: improve handling of external tools
Hi,
the libguestfs library uses a number of external tools; for some of
them, we search for them at build time, enabling some feature only if
found, and later on assuming at runtime they are installed. However,
the situation is more complex than that:
- hardcoding the full path means that there is an incoherency in the
way some of the tools are used, as some other tools (e.g. qemu-img)
are

Unknown dict module: db with expire plugin
Hello.
I upgraded my dovecot to 1.1. I use the FreeBSD port.
However, I can't use the expire plugin. See the error:
Unknown dict module: db
expire plugin: dict_init() failed
I see on the mailing list another mail like this problem. And the
problem is the imap library is not linked to libdb.
Is there a solution?
Have I to contact the FreeBSD maintainer to link the binary to the
library?
